OK, here goes...I am earthy, I love the ocean, sailing, organic gardening, movies and TV, playing golf, wine tasting, reading, writing, music, dining out, enjoy traveling around the US and Caribbean. I do enjoy watching some sports on TV...but 24 hours a day! I love spending as much time as I can with my kids and grandkids. One dream I have is to design and build a home...near my kids...with an ocean view!

Camping & fishing is of interest once in awhile, as long as it's in an RV...no more tents on the ground. I prefer small towns; visiting the "city" like San Francisco once in a while is OK, but my cup of tea is more toward small coastal, country and mountain communities.
Both my kids plan to move back to CA within 4-5 years, in the area N of Santa Barbara...so that is the direction I hope to move to...though not right in SB (too crowded)...and no further south anywhere near LA. I was born and raised in LA and have no interest in moving anywhere below SB. I lived in S. Lake Tahoe on and off for 20 years and now live in the Sierra foothills. The value of my home has gone below what I owe, so I am open to moving sooner than later between Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz.
I am adventurous, but only when I have someone to share the experience. I am short and stocky; I tend to be overweight when I am alone. I love walking, hiking, bicycling, etc., but not alone. Haven't done much cycling lately, but hope to start up again soon. (I usually do every year right after Tours de CA and France!) Slender and toned I am not right now, so if that's what you want immediately, then don't waste your time or mine. Took care of my mother the last couple of years of her life, which gave me no time for a personal life...and now looking to find someone with whom I can have fun...and grow "older" together.
I try to not be too judgmental, and prefer NOT being around people who are “always” judgmental of every little thing everyone else does that doesn’t match their own beliefs…and people who think they know it all…they don’t! Neither do I. I enjoy learning new things, and do have my preferences and dislikes, but I believe in free speech and free choice for everyone. Kinda believe that is what our country was founded on. I am politically independent, but tend to lean slightly left...so any hard-right Republicans need not apply. I am conservative about some issues and liberal about others.
I do have a part-time job, which I am open to resigning, when I find the right guy to retire with. I enjoy reading and writing and am working on a couple of books. I like to foster animals when possible. I volunteer in various ways as time permits.

I have had a great life and a wonderful family, but I have been separated for almost four years (still married so that I don't have to pay spousal support) and I need more than hanging with the girls. We do a lot of things together, but it's time to mix it up with a male in my life besides my brother and son. I enjoy many things. I am still teaching and plan on retiring in two years. I teach Emotionally Disturbed children K-3 grade. It is a great challenge and I never know what will happen one second to the next, but I enjoy seeing the changes occur and the light bulbs go on. When I retire, I will have taught for 34 years. I look forward to retiring and doing so many fun things and I hope there will be someone in my life with whom to enjoy them.

I've been in the Placerville area since January 2011 (6 yrs in Mississippi before that, 13 yrs in Santa Rosa before that, 25 yrs in SF before that). I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley, went to college at SF State. I have a terrific family -- 4 younger brothers, 4 nephews, and a niece. My parents just passed in 2011 and 2012. I've been married twice -- when I was 21 (divorced after 5 yrs) and when I was 37 (widowed 3 months later). I've been in a few longish term relationships, and I'm not seeing anyone right now.
I was a hang glider pilot in my late 20's, early 30's. Lots of fun -- risk with responsibility. We started the sport in Northern California, wrote the regs so the FAA would leave us alone and so we'd be safe, got the sites, had a blast for many years. I imported folk art from Mexico and Guatemala for several years. I learned to Scuba when I turned 40. I've been to several places in Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii. Love it, but haven't gone in awhile and should take a refresher course before I do.
I'm a stained glass artist, photographer, and potter. When I was in Mississippi, I joined the art association and exhibited my work for the first time... and actually won ribbons and sold pieces. I haven't created much art since I've been back in California except for a little photography.
