I love to ski/snowboard, backcountry camp, fly fish, kayak, trail run, etc - the typical CO outdoor routine...except rock climbing (sorry, shattered my wrist few years back). I am a former Cat 2 road cyclist, which dominated my life until 2009. I graduated from CU and lived on the East Coast for way too long. I was a lobbyist in DC/NYC (reason for profile picture, btw i have longer curly hair now). I got a job that allows me to work out of my house so I moved back to CO (front range) and then to Gunnison to experience areas of CO I don't typically get to. Although I have a feeling my next move will be to Crested Butte.
Anyway, I am not my age...I stress that. Biking kept me young physically and I just stay young mentally. In my opinion, life is too short to grow up quickly - but you need a career because toys/trips are expensive. I've had great experiences...front page of NY Times, been in the oval office, worked on 48th and Madison, etc. But I have always missed CO and was finally able to get back. As much as I loved that East Coast culture, I am at home in the mountains.
As for what I'm looking for...simply put, someone who I want to spend time with. I'm about the most comfortable person I can imagine being alone (with my two black labs of course). I've spent most of my life that way. So I am looking for someone who excites me. I don't care about career accomplishments, education, income, background, etc.; just someone who makes me want to spend time with them. Since most of what I do is on the extreme side, she either has to be able to keep up or not mind me taking off for my adventures. I definitely am not going to give up that part of me. My biggest challenge meeting women is that I simply am not proactive. I can't see myself hitting on a girl at a bar or even in the grocery store. I contribute it to being raised by all women. I just can't be that guy that they all complained about.
Gunnison is a small place, so if you live in any of the neighboring areas and still want to meet up sometime, let me know. I'm glad to travel a bit...especially if you live in a great place for mountain biking.
