Meet a soulmate from California, United States. Thank you for stopping by; and, hopefully, my profile includes more substance than flattery. My photos (except for the one with my children) were taken within the past three years (the latest: Christmas 2011) and I do proudly attest to the 71 years I’ve justly “earned.” Married my senior year in college (to my high school sweetheart) we moved to southern California in 1965 and were amicably divorced 20 years later. In the years that followed, one long-term relationship and some wonderful close friendships enriched my life along the way. Since my wonderful son, a career naval officer, is currently stationed in Florida; and my delightful daughter, an accomplished computer programmer, now resides in Texas, reunions have become precious to me. There are, as yet, no grandchildren for me to spoil so I will enjoying hearing you brag about yours.
A relocation three years ago provided an opportunity to reawaken some past interests: Tai Chi and French classes, piano lessons, a creative writing workshop and the chance to sing with a chorale of 130 voices. I’ve learned I can be happy alone, living anywhere, but envision a future with someone special to share all of life’s many wonders. And so, my thoughts turn to you (out there somewhere) who may just be glancing my way at this very moment. Hopefully, like me, you prefer to have a committed relationship but feel that there is a discovery process along the way which is important too. Marriage may be an option but not a necessity since, in the end, sharing quality time together – whenever and wherever – is what really matters. Being about the same age might be helpful, so that we have more in common to reminisce about or potentially experience together, but you needn’t be rich; I’m not. And true wealth, to me, is a state of mind rather than a bulging wallet. Some important common values might be: that it’s better to be health conscious than youth oriented; that serious concerns deserve the balance of relaxation time; that we instill self respect in others by respecting them; that amid life’s uncertainties, strong ties to family and friends are especially important; that we never stop learning; that laughter “is” the best medicine; and, finally, that honesty is “always” the best policy.
Some of my favorite things to share are: those lovely beach walks I miss so much, listening to a crackling fire or rainfall while curled up with a good book (perhaps reading poetry aloud to each other); movies, the theatre; music (Big Band to the classics) and perhaps ballroom dancing on special occasions (or just slow-dancing on the kitchen floor.) A witty exchange, with lots of laughter, always delights me, as does a good conversation – anytime. I tend to prefer intimate gatherings with family and friends to loud parties and – “I love a Gershwin tune, how about you?” We might be lured by other cultures to take a special trip abroad or prefer to leisurely explore our own coastline -- sometimes waking at the crack of dawn to do something special and other times relishing the luxury of sleeping in -- together. But most important would be our knowing that (along with those occasional once-in-a lifetime experiences) even the daily routine can become a wondrous journey when simply shared together, at home, with someone you love.
