I hate talking on the telephone and prefer email. Imagine! An accountant who prefers computers to people! Seriously, though, email lets me reach multiple people at once; I can do it any time of day when a phone call might be inappropriate, like after the kids are in bed, or really early in the morning . . . ok, I could barely type that last part without laughing because . . . I don't like getting up in the morning, I love sleeping in (!) but rarely get to do it. I like white wine but red gives me a terrible headache. I LOVE trees and would live IN one if I could, but living surrounded by them is the next best thing.
I'm currently addicted to Diet Coke (but it has to be from a soda fountain, in a cup with ice and a straw). I think I'm mildly OCD. I don't like the cold. Winter is three months of torture for me. I can roll my tongue and wiggle my ears. I love chocolate but I don't like any other kind of candy (licorice, marshmallow peeps, candy corn, etc.). I don't like the taste of mint, but I tolerate it in toothpaste because there's no other choice. I'm hilarious. Seriously.
I wear my heart on my sleeve - what you see is what you get. I like to “be quiet” a lot. Some people mistake that for sadness, shyness, rudeness, or snootiness, but I just don’t feel the need to fill the silence all the time. I cry very easily, always have – at movies (happy or sad), during the National Anthem, when I first see that castle at Disney World, when I’m angry. It used to drive me crazy that I couldn’t argue about anything without crying – you get NO credibility that way.
I think we’re all in this together. Regardless of religious or political affiliation, we’re all the same under our skin; we’re all human beings; we all want the same basic things.
I LOVE being a mom. Maddie and PJ are the light of my life. I credit my husband with making me a better, more compassionate and less judgmental person than I was 15 years ago. My quote from Titanic is for him.
