Date single man from United States. I am originally from Ohio, born and raised outside of Sandusky (yes, the home of Tommy Boy). After graduating from the U of Cincinnati, I had the chance to drive cross country for a year. It wasn't quite a Kerouac-move; I was working for my fraternity at the time, but it was a pretty incredible experience. After a few odd years, I moved out to Arizona to see what a 50 degree winter would be like. It was pretty far from the rest of my family, but I have two sisters and a bro-in-law here, so it has been a quick adjustment.
In regards to what pays the bills, I am an adviser and recruiter for Arizona State University at the Downtown Phoenix campus. Despite the jokes on Daily Show, we actually do have books, and sometimes, students take time away from their sunbathing to go to class! ASU is actually is a great place to work; I love helping students on their way to graduation, and the energy on campus is always set on high. Education is really important to me, so being on the advising end of things has been great. I haven't completely embraced the ASU/UA rivalry though, so I am certainly open to an amazing Wildcat woman.
Last year was really focused on personal growth. I finished my second masters degree (first was in Management, second in Higher Education), which were a ton of work, but well worth the effort. Outside of the classroom, getting into a less-rounded shape was my top priority. Between changing my diet and walking, I dropped about 80 lbs and finally hit the weight room pretty hard. That doesn't mean I am done, but things are definitely looking up and I would love a hiking partner. I have also gotten into the adult mud runs; I knocked out Warrior Dash in April, and am training for Tough Mudder and the Spartan Run in February of next year. Life can be pretty boring if you aren't willing to take a risk!
Outside of my exercise regiment, I am really looking to do some exploring. Even though I have been in Arizona about seven years, there are still areas I want to try out. I am always up for a band I haven't heard of, or hitting a new restaurant. Phoenix and the surrounding area has a ton to offer, and I think it's about time to take full advantage. I finally have hit a few shows at Crescent Ballroom (fantastic little venue), but the list is long when it comes to what else I want to experience in Arizona. My sister is about to have the first baby of the family as well, so I am really excited to be an uncle for the first time.
So what am I looking for? You love life, aren't afraid to look like a fool sometimes, have a great sense of humor, and are as comfortable going to a concert as you are chilling on the couch. A woman who can challenge me and is always challenging herself is important as well. Someone who likes sports and can have a good conversation about politics is definitely a plus (especially if you are left of center!).
