The first thing anyone should know about me is that I am a devoted, single mom... my 14 year old son is my greatest joy... but he is so positive, happy, and affectionate that taking care of him is the easiest, happiest part of my life... I love having him as my side-kick...
But I also really enjoy the occasional weekend off mom-duty! While being mom is my #1 priority, I know that he'll be leaving for college in the blink of an eye... so I'm going back to school in the fall to begin my post-grad work... I'm excited about the new beginnings that will bring...
I love to travel, but I am pretty limited to weekend getaways during the school year... which is fine... I like nesting, too... weeknights at home are really quite nice... and make getting out for dinner or a couple of cocktails with friends on a Friday night that much more appreciated! I do not like "night clubs" with "dance music." There are a few live music venues in Birmingham I enjoy quite a bit, but I really like small places where I can actually have conversations with people! I enjoy going to dinner at Highlands and the ballet just as much as a cheeseburger at Marty's... all depends on my mood! I also love having friends over to the house instead of going out...
Handling responsibilities is important to me (I hate having things hanging over my head!), but we try to have fun with it... my son and I like to inject a little silliness into everything... we can be quite ridiculous at times, but that keeps us thinking creatively... and laughing a lot!
I've stubbornly stayed single for a few months now... I'm not lonely... I have lovely friends and an amazing family... and alone time can be good, too... but I am starting to miss aspects of a good relationship... it's nice to share things with someone... I love that feeling of anticipation when your someone is about to get home... and goodnight kisses before closing my eyes? Yeah, those are pretty great, too... I'm not looking to jump into anything too fast... I'm not looking for someone for the sake of not being alone... but I figured it's always nice to meet new people, and you never know...

I also like a person who likesto try new things and is not afraid of stepping "outside the box". Just don't ask me to scubba dive or sky dive and we will be all good.
