Basically, she seems to think that I’ve morphed into my dog, as she describes me as loving, loyal, friendly, goofy, trusting, attentive, protective, and an eager hiking companion. I do admire those qualities in doggies, so I can’t say I’m offended by her assessment. But I was really hoping for words like sexy, powerful, mysterious, and so on. (Maybe that is so obvious it wasn’t worth mentioning?) I also think she should have acknowledged that I’m smarter than the average dog, and the fact that I have opposable thumbs is a huge plus, I think, as that comes in really handy in my guitar playing, weightlifting, motorcycle riding, and can-opener operating. And I have yet to encounter any dog that enjoys witty conversation as I do; sarcasm is completely wasted on dogs. Still, like my dog, I do prefer to spend my time outdoors (at least when it’s warm), and we both prefer simple pleasures (e.g., outings, ice cubes, beef jerky, the wind in our hair (fur), and belly rubs) much more than formal or sophisticated activities.
In a woman, I’m looking for someone who smiles a lot, who is happy with themselves, trusting (but not gullible or reckless), pretty, adventurous, affectionate, with a goofy/sarcastic side, and who will laugh at me when I do something dumb (but please, wait till the bleeding stops). Honesty and integrity are essential. If you have those qualities, then I won’t worry about how old you are, what color your hair is, what religion (if any) you subscribe to, what music you listen to (but seriously, country music is really bizarre, right?), if you have (or don’t have) kids, and what hobbies you are (or are not) devoted to.
