I grew up in Sunnyvale. I'm a dad with a grown son, a grandfather to a very fun 2 1/2 year old granddaughter and help my parents when I can now that they are getting up there in age. I've worked in IT for most of my working career. Ironically, I'm not that geeky and really don't enjoy video games. I do enjoy sporting events, movies, dining out, music, musicals, cruises, gambling (I'm not a high roller), going to happy hours with my friends and visiting with my son and family. Sundays in the winter are usually reserved for bundling up on the couch and rooting for the 49ers or Raiders.

I am an entrepreneurial native Bay Arean, Areaite? Arite? Oh, dang. Anyway, most people would describe me as one of the most interesting people they know. And that is "interesting" in a good way (at least I assume that's what they mean).
I have a keen interest in both the arts and sciences. For me, the arts mean classic films (and perhaps not so classic, except Animal House, but that's another story), live theater and participating vintage ballroom dance. And the sciences? That would be astronomy.
Both my main passions carry with them the quality of enchantment. The stars are purely magical, with few words to describe them as Cygnus or Lyra wheel overhead. But they are best seen with two pairs of eyes, not one. Not to mention a decent telescope, don'tcha know And iPad, Can’t forget the iPad.
And as with the stars, vintage ballroom dance bares its own joyous brand of enchantment, and something I should hope you will want to indulge in, (two-left feet or not). So you'll score major points if you want to travel across country or to Europe in order to attend recreations of the grand balls of yore.
My personal style leans more towards elegance and not flashy, substance wins over the latest fads.
I participate in volunteer work both with Big Brothers for the past 4 years and teaching astronomy once a month to a bunch of fifth graders as I have done for the past decade.
I came from a great family; my grandfather was a missionary in India and in fact, knew Ghandi. Dad was a part of "the greatest generation" and a fine example of it as well as one of the most generous people you would meet. My folks were married for 60 years.
My sense of humor also draws a lot of attention. Not sure if that's actually good or bad, but it is best described as a cross between Letterman, Seinfeld, Monty Python and Stephen Wright.
I love to travel, but buying a ticket for one does get a little old after a while. But as with almost everything else, I can't settle for the normal, marching east when all others are marching west. I've been to Turkey and Moldova, Easter Island and Patagonia. Hope to go to Iceland to watch the Northern Lights, and Hawaii next year to see the Keck observatory (at 13,600 feet asl!!).

the Crows Nest. I have surround sound and a 50", so a great movie at home with you( or the movie date out), experimenting with cooking. And yes I ride a motorcycle. But it's a beautiful motorcycle.
The hardest thing about dating at this stage in my life is that while the mind got smarter and wiser(?), the body has gotten older. How fair is that. Good news is that I work outdoors in an active job, so I get daily exercise to stay as fit as possible. With this in mind I realize that this is a life event that hits us all.

I would rather listen to waves crashing or the wind in the trees while BBQ'n my own dinner instead of the howl of the crowd.There are some nice places in Los Gatos that I enjoy.I do enjoy going out and being part of the crowd , but if I had my choice- Me and you sitting on the side of a lake , with an open bottle of wine watching the sun go down. Or after a day on the boat,sitting at a riverside bar/cafe having a meal with an ice cold beer (or Mai Tai) listening to a band or watch the scenery. Or how about the motorcycle ride to a destination for lunch and conversation?
Music is the path to ones soul, it keeps the spirit young. I like Alternative because it is fresh and vibrant. Keeps me in tune with the younger people. Pink Floyd because- come on it's Floyd, who else makes music like that. The Blues keep a soul in rhythm and real. Jean Luc Ponty keeps the mind focused. Classic rock keeps the memories fresh. Country- keeps the mind in tune with whats emotionally real- the common man tunes or she done me wrong tunes-Skynard, Trace Adkins. Meet men and women from United States. I'm a guy who likes to have fun in life! I tease and can take teasing as well; They say "don't sweat the small stuff": To me, 90% of life is small stuff; however, sweat like hell on the 10% that really counts! Family, friends and career.
I believe in integrity and directness, and need the same from the people around me. I know there are lots of BS-artists (definitely a midwestern term!)and slick operators out there: in Love, business and life. They're everywhere. However, I'm hanging out with the straight shooters, the integrity people (could be boring.... But not necessarily!), and the people I can count on; there's plenty of them, too: they're just a bit harder to find!
I believe in the old adadge "who you are speaks so loudly that I can't hear what you're saying". So I promise I will not try to be someone I'm not; and I hope you will do the same. The truth always comes out anyways... If you listen. I believe listening well, is essential to business, family and romance; in business you'll make more money by listening, in family you'll have better relationships, and in romance, there's no longterm relationship without it, I believe.
So I guess I'll just admit to being less than perfect (I'll deny it later however....) right off the bat.....
One last thing: I'm a fortunate and happy guy; most of all, I'm a grateful guy. Thankful for so many things, including the Fine young men my 4 sons have grown into. I lost my wife 5 years ago and it was tough on us all. I'm grateful for the time we had together, and for the lessons she taught me from her passing. So you won't see me sweating the small stuff.. Cause I don't. You won't see me living in the past: I'm much more interested in creating the future. I have great patience for the givers of life; and very little for the takers and scammers.
