I am not sure who coined that phrase, but I often refer to it, especially on a monday when the coffee gets spilled, the dog gets out, and I am running late! I have a very committed set of values that have guided my life, based on some very simple ideas. I believe people should be treated with dignity, honor, and respect. I believe in communication, open and honest. The first casualty of poor communication is trust, and that can be malignant to a friendship or any kind of relationship. The closer two people get, the ability to communicate has to grow in parallel. Often times as people get closer together, one mistakingly believes the other can read their mind, often with catastrophic results.
I value and appreciate honesty and believe that is the foundation of a solid relationship...of any kind. Relationships that grow into being long lasting have honesty as their bedrock, because trust comes from honesty. Once those things are established, lots of good stuff can happen, especially if there is chemistry. I have never been married but want to be some day. What is most important to me is to find the right woman. It means more to me than any timetable of birthdays, lunar years or months one has been dating. I have felt that "this is the right one" within hours, days or weeks, and learned that I was not the right one for them. I have also been the right one, however they have not been so for me. If you have dated in this life, you know what I am talking about! I believe everything happens for a reason, and that there is a master plan...we just don't get access to it!
I also believe that people grow through adversity. I know I have had my share and have come to gain strength and confidence through it, ultimately realizing my destiny is in God's hands. I am attracted to strong and independent women. This does not mean they lack the feminine graces and beauty the fairer gender brings to a relationship, but it does mean that they love themselves, who they are, and are able to honestly speak their mind. Mutual chemistry is also a requirement. I enjoy a woman who knows what is going on in the world around them, with a sense of history to know that all of this has happened before, and that "the only thing new in this world is the history we don't know" (Harry Truman). It helps that she keeps herself in shape because I am very physically active and would love to have my lady with my on my adventures. (Did I mention chemistry? ;0) She doesn't have to be my training partner (would be fun though!), but she does need to be athletically inclined. I have found that age is no predictor of how full of life someone is. We only have so much time on this planet, so enjoy the gift! She must have a sense of humor and be willing to laugh at herself as well as me. She must know that we can agree to disagree and that once in a while, we will disagree. In fact, it is important that she be confident enough to disagree as part of building an honest relationship.

My interests are working out, tennis, reading, dancing, etc. I consider myself conservative with a strong rebellious streak running through me.
