Cooking is a form of meditation for me. There is nothing like the smell of onions and tomatoes cooking to make me feel at home and happy. Aside from getting outside and cooking, I love reading. Everything from crap mystery novels to the Power of Now and Born to Run have sat in my hands at some point.
I don't have a list of physical requirements for who I'm looking for. For me, it really doesn't have a whole lot to do with what you look like or do for a living. I mean...we need to have chemistry between us, but, for me, it's more about how you approach your life. Part of what I bring to the table is a sincere belief that the most important thing between two people is enjoying the time you spend together. Everything else comes from that.
I like people who are comfortable in their own skin, quick to laugh, and active life explorers.

I love Fitness: Yoga, dancing, rock climbing, etc. I am game to try anything new- however I am horrible at sports so if I try any sports I' usually do that with as few people around as possible to avoid inducing hysterical laughing with me at the focal point.

I cannot stress that enough- I tend to spoil the man that I am with and would do absolutely anything for someone whom I respect and treats me the way I would like to be treated. Although I am sensitive to everyone around me and would never be cruel (nor do I enjoy others being cruel), I do like to be honest and open and value straightforward communication more than anything.
I grew up in Iceland and Italy (my dad was a navy man). I moved around the southern states quite often as a teenager and wound up in California where I fell in love (in particularly with Northern California).
I am extremely ambitious, both professionally and personally. I like to try new things and can be coerced into trying just about anything once to see if I like it (with a few caveats). For example- I have tried squid ink (which did not sound appealing at the time...but with stuffed squid swimming in the ink was very yummy). I am looking for a friend whom I can get to know. That is it...no pressure.

having just moved here, i feel like i am getting to know myself again. i didn't get to snowboard last season with my move and i find myself dreaming about it. amazing how fun dreaming can be! my sewing machine is still in Portland and I miss it. i am fashionable but i'm not afraid to get dirty. i'm loving wearing heels now that i'm out of the rain and i'm on the hunt for some burnt red Frye boots. i have a few friends in town and like the people with whom i work. i would love to have a partner to bike the bridge to sausalito and explore wine country. i'd love to grab sushi and giggle over drinks. i love walking and public transportation. one of my favorite things about my move is that i sold my car.

I'm a full-time teacher, part time pseudo-athlete, and a girl who is just in love with her city. I think we all need to help each other out more often and take it upon ourselves to make the world (or at least our part of it) better than how we found it. We need to advocate for ourselves and each other.
Writing and triathlon training are my big hobbies. I also like to relax with a movie and a few glasses of wine, check out new exhibits and live shows in the city, catch Sharks games in San Jose, indulge in long bloody mary brunches, and head out for fun nights on the town with good friends (yes, just like every other girl in San Francisco). Really, you don't even need to like any of that. This is just what I like. I'd love to hear what you like and if we have one or two things in common- cool. If not, teach me something new, and perhaps I'll teach you something new as well! I also dabble in CrossFit, am working toward more in education outside of my own classroom, and certainly am not the wallflower type.
Music is a big part of my life. While I don't play an instrument, I'm quite the commuter singer and have the uncanny ability to remember song lyrics. If you see a singing blonde girl commuting down 101 in a green Mini with a bike rack, you've found me. I typically listen to all genres/styles of rock. Pearl Jam is my absolute favorite band, and I still remember the moment when I "discovered" them at 14.
I'd like to meet someone who is compassionate toward other people, has a good sense of humor (isn't afraid to laugh at himself), and who doesn't overly value material things in life. I've found experiences to be more meaningful than things and possessions. My hiking shoes have brought me more joy than any pair of designer heels ever have.

Arizona and San Diego. My 2 families - and lifestyles - are as different as night and day. My San Diego upbringing definitely left me with an appreciation for the finer things in life.
