Even though I was born here in the states, I consider myself to be a good blend of both East and West and love my East Indian culture and all that is has to offer. (OK, honestly, I don't know that much about wine - I usually choose the bottle based on how pretty or unique the label is, which can yield some surprisingly tasty results.) I love hanging out with my 16 year old son(when I can convince him that is) -it's amazing to see the man he's becoming. He's the best thing I've ever done in my life. Most weekends you'll find me hanging out with my friends and/or family - the two tend to overlap - hanging out in Long Beach, playing volley ball on my sister's front yard or Settlers of Catan(I totally just outed myself as a dork with that one.. I am an avid reader(trashy, modern, and classic novels with a bit of nonfiction thrown in) and love music - especialy live. Gomez, The Frames, Pearl Jam(I still love them so much),Death Cab for Cutie, Wilco, Iron and Wine, and The Black Keys(trendy, I know, but they are really, really good) are among some of my favorites right now, ah, but Rage is so, so good live too.... I would be a sad, sad girl if I ever lost my iPod. I watch TV and love Always Sunny in Philadelphia,Louie, True Blood, 30 Rock(I want to hang out with Liz Lemon), Parks and Rec, Wilfred, and Southland. I, shockingly enough, enjoy watching movies too. Anchorman is one of my all time favorites, and if you haven't seen Paul, you should give it a try. I love the beach, but would love it a little bit more if it were just a few degrees warmer. I had my first surfing lesson recently and am itching to get back out.
I hate trying to describe myself - I should have had my friends do this part for me. I am definitely not a girly-girl and have little interest in fashion and trends, and yet I enjoy shows like Project Runway - I think I'm attracted to other's people ability to create things. I'm really a big goofball; my friends would tell you that I have the mind of a twelve year old boy on some days... perhaps that's why I enjoy teaching middle school - those kids make me laugh on a daily basis. ;) While not always juvenile, I have an irreverant and sometimes inappropriate sense of humor - I love the awkward and random. I come off as being a bit shy when you meet me, but at the same time, I am blunt, honest, and speak my mind. I am completely loyal to, and will be there no matter what for those I care about. I am looking for someone who feels the same.
I guess, what it really comes down to, is that I enjoy my life. I have a lot of amazing people around me, but would like to find someone special to share it with- someone who is my best friend as well as my lover.
