I grew up in Michigan on a small, secluded lake. I had such a wonderful childhood, I swam, skied and sailed all summer, then played hockey all winter. My father was a sportsman and taught me how to hunt, fish, trap, boat, sail, camp and cook like a man. He had a natural charm about him and a mischievous nature that I mostly admired and I aspire to keep those playful qualities as well. My mother taught me to appreciate music, art, culture and how to find the good in everyone. She gave me the freedom to be me without being judgmental. She is to this day such an incredible woman. Even though she made me sing in the choir and knit me a hockey jersey, I still love her dearly.
My father's roots are in Michigan and my mother's in southern France. I am mostly French, Italian and Irish. Yes, if it is worth doing, then I am PASSIONATE about it. My home life was more like "Ricky and Lucy" than "Ozzy and Harriet".
I like interaction, conversation, live music, contact sports. I am more of a participator than a spectator. I believe the couple that plays together stays together. Do you enjoy trying new things? I always have projects going; I get bored easily and need to challenge myself regularly. I tend to push myself pretty hard and I know I need to work on changing that. Trying to write about yourself; what you like, what you don’t like, who would be a good match, etc. It’s just not something they teach you in school or in any writing class. Anyway, I guess I need to do it or else you’ll probably never clink that silly button that’s somehow magically sends me an email that tells me you’re interested in me.
So here I go – moved to the Denver area a few years ago from back east. I basically moved here without really knowing anyone. I was drawn to Colorado by the mountains, climate, and a great job opportunity. I ended up settling in Lone Tree because it’s close to where I work and shop; and I just like the community. Since I’ve moved here I’ve met some really great people, and I’m slowly but surely starting to call Denver / Lone Tree home.
Some more about me - I’m a single white male, 6’ – 190lbs, in good shape, (workout regularly), college educated, and believe I have good values. My birth certificate and driver’s license both say I’m older than I really am. I think someone along the way forged them and added 5 or 10 years to my age (really not funny), because I don’t feel my age at all. Some people might think I’m shy when they first meet me, but after a while when I open up, they realize I’m just a bit reserved. I’m a pretty laid back and down to earth person, and I always try to find the positive in things. The pic that I posted is a couple years old. I’d post more but I don’t own a digital camera.
Things I like to do / interests - include working out (yea – I really do like it), listening to / seeing live good music (right now Drive By Truckers and Widespread Panic are the favorites in my ipod), hitting an occasional happy hour, watching interesting movies, traveling, sports in general, and watching some TV. I sometimes just like to stay home and relax, maybe have a nice glass of wine and watch that movie or game; or read the paper / magazine.
Because I’m relatively new to Colorado, it’ll be great to find someone who can show me around, or maybe to visit places with for the first time. This is such a great city and state I’d really like to see more of it. Maybe more trips to the mountains or national parks.
Things that are important to me – includes my family, friends, and having a good work / life balance. I guess that’s why I’m writing this, to find someone (hopefully that special person) to spend time with and hopefully grow with. Because I try to stay in shape, and eat right (OK - I’ll admit I love chicken wings – hey I used to live in Buffalo), I’m looking for someone who also believes this and tries to keep fit, slim, and in shape.
