. I've had a membership here off and on for a while and I've learned a few things that I will share with you:
If someone sends you a wink without viewing your profile, beware.
If they gush nothing but romantic run-on sentences in their profile, beware.
If they are a "widow" with 1 or 2 kids, beware.
If they use irregular English, or their words are arranged in an odd fashion, beware.
If they say they are relocating to your town, beware.
If they start emailing you directly, then their match profile is no longer available within a few days, beware.
If they claim to have a Masters degree and say they have their own business, or are contract negotiators, (or some other obscure, ambiguous title that's difficult to check up on), beware.
If you are in contact with someone who talks about nothing else but the 2 of you being together (because they live in another town, state, country, etc) and has one or more of the above in their profile, RUN!!! Chances are really good that they're trying to scam you.
If someone tells you they are going out of the country on business, be on alert. They will eventually tell you that they are hung up in customs or that there were unexpected fees and they only have travellers checks that they can't cash there. They will say anything to try to get you to send money. NEVER SEND ANYONE MONEY!!!
Why am I telling you this? Because I'm tired of paying good money for a membership here only to be pursued by scammers. I'm tired of them wasting my time. I know their M.O. I can spot them immediately, yet they still think they're so clever. And quite frankly, I don't want them to be successful with anyone. They suck and make it 10 times more difficult for those of us who are here for the right reasons.
If you have even the slightest suspicion, ASK QUESTIONS! Their answers will stop making sense eventually.
