Meet someone special from Alabama, United States. I'm a country boy at heart. I was raised on a farm approximately 60 miles from Huntsville and my parents still live there. I guess I'm looking for that "fairy tale" relationship that my parents have. It may not exist anymore. My parents have been married over 65 years and I have never heard a cross word between them. My Dad tells my Mother every day how pretty she is and that he loves her. Most people think I am crazy to assume that type of relationship is even possible anymore, but I feel that you have to aim high.
I was raised with a strong work ethic that continues today. I retired from Government service after managing a large engineering organization and I currently work as a technical consultant for a large engineering services company that primarily supports Department of Defense programs. I am financially secure and as long as work remains fun, I plan to work full time for five more years then reduce the time I work. I may never totally retire.
I have a B.S. degree in engineering and a M.S. in engineering management, but I can't fix anything. I am not your typical "geek" engineer. My computer skills are limited and I don't go home every day and spend a lot of time on the computer.
My typical weekday starts very early. I start off on a treadmill and then I lift weights for 20-30 minutes. My health is excellent and I am almost at the weight level that I had in my 20's. I have a very large yard with a lot of big trees and extensive landscaping, so I spend a lot of time with yard work.
I live in a subdivision in the county on two acres in a park-like setting and I have great neighbors. I am about 20 minutes from downtown Huntsville in normal driving conditions.
I have vevry strong family values. My immediate and extended family are very close. I have wonderful parents and two grown sons who have Master's degrees and are very responsible adults. I am very proud of them. I have a daughter-in-law that is like a daughter to me and I have a seven year-old granddaughter and a two year-old grandson that I absolutely adore. I am extremely close to my brother and sister.
I want to find someone that is attractive, intelligent, fun loving, energetic, and has the same values that I have. There must be mutual chemistry/desire. Chemistry is something that is difficult to explain. It is either there or it is not. It certainly is not the only factor, but it is absolutely necessary before other factors come into play. I want someone who has the capacity to give as much as I would be willing to give in return to the right person.
I am a homebody, but I have been to Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, and Canada; would love to go back to Australia and New Zealand with the right woman. I also want to go on a Caribbean Cruise, a South Seas Cruise, and for sure an Alaskan Cruise. I love both the mountains and the beach....especially the Gulf Coast.
I am somewhat of an amateur archeologist. I have an extensive collection of Indian artifacts that I have found. I like antiques, antique auctions, and estate auctions. I love to fish and I have a large mounted bass on the wall in my study. My parents have two lakes on their farm and I like deep sea fishing in the Gulf. .
I like movies. I love SEC football and I am an ardent Auburn fan....and graduate. I like good restaurants and fine dining, as well as the out-of-the-way barbeque and/or country-cooking place. I enjoy dancing ( some ballroom, swing, and just slow dancing ) but I am not that good and it has been quite a while since I have been out on the dance floor. I enjoy any activity with friends, especially just grilling out and chilling. I am more comfortable in blue jeans than a tux, but I can do either.
We need to start out as friends and see where it goes from there. If you have serious emotional issues, use drugs, have financial problems, or can't get over an ex- husband or boyfriend, don't waste your time or mine.

Although retired. I stay busy with 5 PT jobs(teaching being my favorite) and 3 volunteer activities(tutoring is a passion). However as full as my life is I know that it would be better with a lady(very important that she be a lady) to share it with. A lady with intelligence, sensuality, a conversationalist who also enjoys good music, the theater and wine--red or white.
