Meet single man from Woodland, United States. I don’t tend to particularly like talking about myself, but I guess that’s what one is supposed to do here, so here goes. I am interested in an active healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. I enjoy exercise and being out of doors, and I work out regularly in a variety of ways, particularly combining exercise with other activities – for instance, I bicycle to work as often as possible (since it’s approximately 12 miles each way, time is occasionally a limiting factor), and run errands on foot (including inline skates) or bicycle whenever I can. I also regularly work out with weights and play various racquet sports (mainly racquetball right now, but also squash and tennis when I have partners). I have been practicing martial arts for the last 15 years or so (though recently tapering off) and recently took up golf. I enjoy almost any social sporting activity – by “social” I mainly mean that I’m not as competitive as I used to be and mostly like it when everyone has a good time. I try to eat wisely, and I like the challenge of trying to prepare healthy but tasty meals – I enjoy cooking and would like to have more time to experiment with different ways of preparing food. I’m also fond of dining out at which time I am not opposed to a more lax approach to the healthy aspects of diet (I enjoy cocktails and tasty sauces and desserts…).
I am still working full time (in the field of medical research), though I am interested in retiring or at least “cutting back” in the next few years. There are many aspects of my work that I enjoy, and I have a few things I’d like to accomplish before giving it up completely. In addition, there are a number of colleagues that I would like to continue to support – and there is still much to learn. On a somewhat related topic, I am an avid reader of almost anything in print. I am a somewhat old fashioned word person and enjoy well written works on virtually any topic – when I say old fashioned, I mean that I enjoy things like vocabulary and punctuation which I use even when texting. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction, often have a couple of books going simultaneously, and am almost never without a book (I’m one of those people who reads while standing in lines or when dining alone, and I often listen to audiobooks when cycling to and from work).
When I’m not bicycling, I’m a committed motorcyclist – some folks think I should be committed – and as with my exercise, I prefer to accomplish something when riding, as opposed to just going for a ride. For example, I prefer to ride to professional meetings rather than flying - I recently rode to Vancouver, BC (late August, 2011), have ridden all up and down the west coast and as far afield as Fort Collins, CO and Boston, MA for meetings in the last couple of years. I enjoy travel and think there is much to see both in this coutry and abroad. I also enjoy maintining my motorcycles and recently completed the certificate program in Motorcycle Technology at Sacramento City College.
As regards relationships, I like to think that I’m open and honest. I tend to be affectionate and like holding hands and hugging and snuggling. I’m a bit old fashioned in that I still prefer to open doors for women and allow them to go first. I do, however, like contrast in women, sort of the combination of femininity with an interest in physical activity and independence. In the end, my philosophy of life is "keep moving", and I'd like to find someone with a similar outlook. At any rate, if any of this sounds interesting, let’s get together and check it out….

Date someone special from Woodland, United States. I am 65 years old and I just recently lost my wife of 28 years to cancer. I was able to take care of her to the very end and if I had to do it again I wouldn't hesitate. No-one could care for her better than I and hospice was a great help. It was her wish that I carry on with my life and my friends are telling me the same thing. I will never stop loving her but I have plenty of love to go around. I am a fun loving, humerous at times, caring, family oriented, compassionate and most of all dedicated person. I am rich in friends but not so rich financially. I'm not looking for a meal ticket. I have supported myself and my family and I will continue to do so regardless of what happens, I love all sports, dancing, dining, travel when I can but most of all I like to spend time with a close companion and discuss what the next adventure is going to be. I'm not necessarily looking for a permanent relationship, although friendship should be permanent, but I am open to anything that might tickle my fancy. Just be who you are and if you need a friend I am available. God Bless.
