A simple clean sheet of white paper that over time has been folded, unfolded, creased, scared from re-folding, and tossed aside until needed or wanted again. I look back, and now know, that this is a good analogy of my life. One good thing to know is that my sheet of paper was also blessed by pictures and words of people that I love and care for, memories that are forever folded into my soul.

I do enjoy watching an occasional football game (Ive been to see 2 this year)... but sometimes I forget to watch on television.... I am a traditional Southern guy in many ways...and I think in the ways that are good, not bad. ...(Think Garden & Gun Magazine) ie- I have manners, I open doors, I am close with most of my family, I have been told I have a "mild" Southern accent, I can be eloquent verbal/writing, I enjoy hunting and fishing (it isn't an obsession), I love telling stories (and I'm pretty good at it), I am down to earth yet comfortable talking to anyone...plumber to CEO, I can and do use a chainsaw, I go to church (Episcopalian) etc.
I am NOT into dipping, chewing, smoking cigarettes, NASCAR, NRA, Gambling, chromed out Harleys, Obsessing over deer hunting or football games, I am not a bigot or a racist, I am not a right wingnut, a religious zealot, or narrow minded... I am a live and let live person for the most part and am looking for the same in a female companion.
I am considerably more open minded than most Southern men, I am considerably more active physically & intellectually than most men of my generation... I am adventurous and very much enjoy the company of women who are active, fit, adventurous.... Women who do not cringe at the thought of hiking to and camping at a beautiful remote location...
There was a time I would have said I read alot... but the truth is, I read when I am bored (I try hard to avoid boredom)...and honestly, Music is what I turn to before reading of late... I enjoy listening to vintage vinyl lp's... and I have an encyclopedic knowledge of many musical genres...my musical interests are broad... Avett Brothers... Allman Brothers... Verdi ... James Taylor... Jack Johnson...Classical.... String Cheese Incident... John Prine... Townes Van Zandt... Steely Dan... etc etc... I play acoustic guitar fairly well.... much room for improvement !
I am not "normal" or "ordinary" or "average" in any way and I am certainly not looking to meet women who are "normal", "ordinary" or "average".. Bright, Intelligent, Active, Adventurous, Interesting, Down to Earth, Kind, Considerate, Self Sufficient are all adjectives I would use to describe the sort of woman I am looking for.... I am not confining my search to my local area...willing to travel !
As to the age range I am interested in... this can be tough....When I scan the profiles here I find that most of the women who catch my attention are between 30 & 45 but that many exclude men of my age (49).... To that I say, I have met 25 year old men & women whom I can run circles around...and I have known 45 year old women who can run circles around me... So
On the age point I say, try to keep an open mind....I may be 49... but I feel like and occasionally behave as if; I am a 30-35 year old... camping at Bonaroo ? Telluride Bluegrass Festival ? Riding my motorcycle (not a Harley guy) and camping along the Blue Ridge Parkway ? Backpacking in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming ? Driving 1100 miles in one day ? Overnight canoe/kayak trip ? These are the sorts of things I enjoy doing.
I suppose one thing I should make clear... If you aren't into live music and/or spending time outside.... then you probably won't like me too much.
I have twin sons that started high school this year...and are active in swimming, diving and hockey.... I have a daughter in her Junior year of college.... I try hard to do more for my children than I am required.... So I am not interested in women who need or are looking for someone to take care of them financially.... Self Sufficiency is an admirable trait !
I get along well with almost all children of all ages... I coached youth sports for my daughter and sons for many years and enjoyed it immensely !
