I am, by choice, a simple person. Khaki shorts and a polo shirt, Jeans and a t-shirt. I do own a tie, but I would have to look for it.
I am a father of three. A 25 year old who has blessed me with two wonderful grandchildren, as well as a 15 year old daughter and an 11 year old son who will, for now, be living with their mom. I have unlimited access and spend a lot of time with them.
I am a Christian - sometimes a bad example of one, but Christian nonetheless. Not perfect - just forgiven.
I am self employed (for almost 20 years) which gives me a lot of flexibility but also a lot of responsibility. I am passionate about my job and I take it seriously. I take a lot of things seriously like: my responsibility as a father, doing the right thing and caring for other people. Most of all I take FUN seriously. "If you are not having fun you are just wasting time!"
I take HONESTY seriously. I will not lie to you to get what I want, to cover for something I have done or even to keep from hurting your feelings. I ask for the same in return. If you have to be dishonest about any aspect of your life to be accepted by another person, that relationship is doomed from the start. I am not perfect, I don't ask for perfection - just REAL-ness.

Be spontaneous. "FLEXIBILITY" is a survival skill in my world.
Understand that my love for and the time that I spend with my children is not "competition," it is an unconditional part of who I am. Join us, laugh at us or leave us alone - just don't try to come between us. The wonderful thing about "love" is that there is no limit on how much a person can give away. You can't love your kids so much that there isn't any left for others in your life.
Be open and fair. Be willing to discuss expectations and set rules that apply EQUALLY to both of us. Total HONESTY (there is that word again) saves a lot of misunderstanding and heartbreak.
Be realistic. I am single again after 16 years, the last several of which were tough. I am not looking to rush back in to THAT type of a situation again. I do not really like the thought of growing old alone. I would like to find a “soulmate” to spend forever with, but it is not going to happen this week. I am not a “one night stand" kind of person by any means but I am not ready to rush in to anything.

I've spent my life attempting to improve myself through education, trying different things, meeting new people, working hard, playing hard and probably several other descriptive terms. I've made more mistakes than I can count and some not so little. I enjoy life. I tell my kids it is better to do than to have.
Some people have said that I am "looking". I think there is some truth to that. As much as I argue that I'm a realist, likely I lean to the romantic side. I think that special person, place or experience is worth the effort and I believe the possibilities are there.
I enjoy the outdoors. I believe in being fit. My work keeps me in the air-conditioning at a desk most all the day. It is not stress free..so I enjoy getting outside. I love to play tennis. I also like to work in my yard...though the less brain power I have to use the better.
I have two kids that live with me. They are my driving force and I am protective of them. To that end I'm not looking to jump into some commitment but would enjoy making a special friend who is patient and looking for a laugh...then thinking about possibilities.
I believe in physical activity. I think it adds so much in so many ways. I believe it extends lives as well as the quality of life. It positively impacts our appearance, our abilitiy to cope with stress, improves our health and also think it can contribute to our abilitiy to interact socially.
From what I've written above one might get the idea I'm outgoing..and in a cautious sort of way I guess I am. In other words I feel compelled to stay in some comfort zones. I'm not big on night clubs but don't mind cozy bars. I enjoy one on one or small groups of friends versus parties. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the experience of a popular night spot...its just not something I do out of habit. I would rather share a movie a drive in the country, a nice dinner, a glass of wine or a nice conversation.
When it comes to what I'm looking for....I guess I can list some things I think might be good but I'm really not confident that I know. More probable my romantic side kinda thinks that certain things work together to give the feelings that drive a relationship. Maybe that is called chemistry.
I said I would describe ...to begin I'll steal from Louis L'amour. Some of his wild west characters said they looked for someone who would walk beside...not leading or lagging. The person I think this describes is someone who will take-up for themselves, tell me when I'm wrong...be honest. Conversely I don't think this describes someone who is controlling or manipulative.
I can't go much further but would add that appearance is important. Not looking for a beauty queen but would like to find someone reasonably confident in their appearnce and sensuality.
I presently attend a Methodist church. I am not as involved with my church as I probably need to be. I've recently increased my involvement (still lacking though) and have a renewed resolve that religion is an important part of our lives.
