I am self-employed, financially secure, own my own house, don't smoke, don't use drugs, have no debts, don't gamble, don't hang out with "the guys" and never drink outside my own house. I was married for 24 years and am now divorced. I have 1 child who is 22 and does not live with me.
I am a musician, and have been since I was 8. I got my first paying job when I was 9. In college, in New York City, I was on TV, radio, and played in recording studios and at famous venues with famous people. I left the business because I could see where it most often led: to a premature death from drugs or alcohol. Today, I teach for 5 different cities in the East Bay,both classes and private lessons, and never have to travel. I play golf in the morning and work only from mid-afternoon to early evening, Monday through Thursday, 40 weeks out of the year. I can retire any time I want, but I enjoy what I do.
What I am looking for here is a woman who can be made happy by simple, everyday things rather than what I am seeing in so many of the profiles I have looked at: a person without a soul who needs an endless stream of consumer goods and travel in order to be stimulated because there is nothing at the center of their being. When I wake up and look out the window and see the California sunshine, I feel exactly as I did on any summer vacation morning when I was a child in dreary upstate New York: Oh boy, I get to go out and play all day. They will have to come and drag me back to the house to eat lunch. Then I (in the present) go to the golf course and enjoy being alive. I have tried to structure my life to be pleasing as it is by eliminating the things I don't want to do. Every day already is a vacation for me. Is there anyone out there who has learned that the secret is to find contentment rather than thrills and then just subtract everything from your life that adds stress and doesn't bring contentment? If you can only drive 1 car at a time, why does anyone need 3 BMW's?
