I am excited this summer to be embarking upon what I see as my last “career.” After fifteen years in one elementary school teaching struggling students (minorities, model and otherwise) who mostly seemed to find relief in spending forty minutes daily outside their crowded classrooms with other “different” learners, I will begin mid-August at a near-by high school, doing something akin , and I’m sure also quite different. Several of my former students of many years, whose lives have barely crossed mine the past two, will be there to welcome me. I hope to stay to see them graduate. I hope I want to.
My earlier careers careened between more and less structured situations in which I counseled, directed, started, mentored and controlled a variety of people and programs in realms of psychology and social work. ItРІР‚в„ўs been a fairly interesting life, though If I were to live it over I would spend less of it in classrooms getting initials after my name.
As a single parent, I adopted my beautiful. bright, much loved daughter a few years after having moved to the Bay area, having lived a New York sixties life in the seventies. I probably made more than average parenting mistakes, in a more than average challenging situation. We continue to love and challenge one another.
I like to walk in Redwoods, the grand ones up north, the groves in Tilden Park, even the single row that grows behind my bedroom window. I live in a patch of green that can be seen from an airplane flying out of Oakland Airport , the only square of Green to be seen along the Bay besides Albany Hill, where I rented before living in this condo. And how convenient it is to go from here to urban life on either side of the bay. Small doses of New York City, where I spent most of my formative twenties and thirties, home to many friends, near to sibs and their kids, remains accessible, and a staple need for me.
Enough about me. If you love to make love-however we can- can put up with the inflexibility of a schoolteachers vacations, but like to travel- if political and other intellectual discussion interests you- if you want to walk into our winter years with a warm soul mate- sharing friends and families, but true to only one another sexually- I so hope to hear from you.
. Animals, children, mother nature....I love them all. They all make me smile. At my age I don't have time for dancing around subjects or peoples baggage. It's only baggage if it's not tucked in neatly. I am not sure why I am on here.

. Who am I? I wish I could say I was the "perfect" woman, but I'm not. And I don't expect to find the "perfect" man. I don't expect that from anyone, because none of us are perfect, we are just human. I don't smoke, drink on occasion and am in good health, although I admit to a few extra pounds that I am always attempting to work off. I love to travel, enjoy the theater, movies, dinner out, as well as an intimate dinner at home, music, dancing and a walk on the beach at sunset (really). I swim, snorkel and have learned to scuba dive, although I am not certified. I am seeking someone who wants to share those things with me as well as allow me to share his passions.
I have a very full life, but it is missing the one thing that makes life special. Someone to share all the great times with. But if you don't have the courage to take that first step, then why are we on this site? We all look at the profiles and the pictures and then do nothing.
I have noticed how we limit ourselves by age. What a shame we are not open enough to meeting someone who's profile says all that we are looking for, but have put parameters around too young or too old. . I am a recent widow, I lost my husband a year and a half ago to cancer. We were married 48 years. This step is all very new for me but I am interested in meeting someone who Is outgoing with a good sense of humor. It is important to me that those i meet are very real and honest. My life has a lot of variety, with family, friends, volunteering, gardening, cooking, walking around Balboa Island with friends, boating, traveling..Playing bridge. . I don't feel one has to always look for something or someone to find or be found. Neither do I think being on this site is an oxymoron to that statement. Am not lonely nor need validation nor feel incomplete nor seeking my other half. I am already whole. Just passing through this life loving and learning and as always, continually curious and receptive as to what surprises the Universe still has for me. Would enjoy a friendly email from a tall, spiritually intuitive, communicative guy with a bit of "bad boy" still there. As for me, I am chronologically 70, emotionally well developed (on a good day), active and don't look older than 68 1/2. Pretty scary when first seen in a bathing suit, but when you get to know me they're so many other issues, you forget that visual. A perfectly imperfect person just rounding second base. These are all the declarations at the moment but if you are both curious and courageous, surprise me.

Addendum: Deal Breaker....must be well manicured and groomed. No ear, nose hair or bushy eyebrows. Now, that was my last declarative.
. I have recently moved to California from Connecticut and Los Angeles is new to me. I moved out here to be with my grown children and my four beautiful granddaughters who keep me on my toes!
