I'm a native to Colorado but spent many years out and about living in great cities. It's good to be home. My skis were getting bored, I had to come back. I do love our mountains but I'm not fanatical about it. However, when I'm there I'm there... happy as a kid in a candy shop!
Art and music are a giant part of my life. There's nothing like diggin' your fingers into a mound of clay or laying down a deep funky groove on the bass. I love getting involved in big projects that require every creative ounce I can muster up.

I was a ski bum for a few years (OK, uh, nine) before going back to grad school and joining the real world. (FYI to those who are considering a similar switch: don't do it! Just kidding. Sort of.) Although I spend a lot of time in a much different environment these days, I'm still pretty much a ski bum at heart. I really love my job here in Denver, but I miss the mountain lifestyle and hope to return someday.
The things that are important to me are: spending time with the people I care about, recreating/exercising (this includes skiing, snowboarding, biking, running, hiking, fly-fishing, camping, playing hockey, etc.), cooking/eating/dining/entertaining, reading, traveling (well, at least back in the old days when I had a bit more free time), and just generally doing interesting things and hanging out with interesting people.
I'm a dog lover but don't actually own one myself. I would describe myself as funny, articulate, and VERY laid-back, and I would love to find someone similar. Your background really doesn't matter, as long as you're interesting, intelligent, and have a good heart. I think my ideal match would be someone who likes to get outdoors as much as possible, has a strong sense of intellectual curiosity, has a great sense of humor, and who genuinely cares about treating other people well. (Among other things, but we'll leave it at that for now.)

Nice sheets, Wilco, butter, shallots, French cooking in general, the Avett Brothers (I'll pretty much drop anything to go see them live), browning and braising large cuts of meat in my sweet La Crueset dutch oven, good wine, truly independent politicians, the St. Louis Blues, picking up new hobbies and learning how to do them really well, reading in bed, eating a good breakfast every day, drinking really good coffee, wearing Carhartt's to work and feigning ignorance when someone tells me that they don't really count as "business casual", HBO, Table 6, people who have a great attitude but don't ignore the fact that life isn't always easy, hanging out and listening to records, Z Cuisine, concerts at Red Rocks, my mountain bikes, Turck's Tarantulas and Double Bunnies, RIVER TRIPS!, fresh pow, stretching, my family, getting a good nights' sleep, my iPod...and lots of other things.

Date someone special from Colorado, United States. Time to be completely honest, why not. I am always honest, but it seems that people leave out the details that they don't want everyone to know in their profiles. Not me. I am overweight, I am losing weight, about 5 pounds a month, but that does mean I am a ways away from where I want to be. I don't really like to work out, but I am at the gym at least 4 times a year because I know it is one of the only ways I am going to get to where I want to be.
That being said, I am also very busy. I have a great career, but I am also getting a second degree with aspirations of an MBA within the next 4 years. This means that I am very busy. I try to do my best to make time for social time, but it doesn't always happen as often as I would like. Some weeks, my social time is going to the dog park with my dog and talking to the other dog lovers.
I am very new to Denver, I moved here from Indianapolis about 3 months ago. I have lived all over the US in the past 15 years and hope that this is it. I am tired of moving. I still own a house in Indiana that I am renting out, but as I want to be sure that the renters are good and don't default on their rent payments, I am living in a small apartment with pretty sparse living at the moment. This is not because I have to live this way, I am very practical and try my best to live within my means.
I have a wonderful 7 year old Brittany Spaniel/Ausie mix dog. He has been the most stable thing in my life other than my family in the last 7 years.
My family, Mom, Dad, Sister and her kids are moving to Virginia from my original home state of Minnesota. So, over the next couple of years a number of my trips will be out to see them. I do love to travel though, and as things get settled, I am looking forward to seeing as many places in the world as I can. I love to learn new cultures and experience different places.
I do not have any kids of my own, probably one of the biggest disappointments of my life. I love kids and would love to have a family, but at 38 (nearing 39), I am not sure that I could start a family of my own at this point. If you have a kid or kids, that is great, I am more than happy to see if we can fit together.
Things I can not handle. High maintenance women. People who are not open to new ideas and lifestyles. I am rather liberal in my viewpoints and tend to not understand people who do not respect other people's lifestyles and choices. I am not religious. I believe in a higher power, but not organized religions, I think that people should be able to believe what and how they want.
