When I’m waiting for food at the restaurant, I fashion pyramids out of sugar packets. My current record is 6 sugar packets high, a record I could probably beat, but it would require some extraordinarily slow restaurant service. I love to build LEGO sets; in fact, I’ve constructed so many LEGO sets that I’ve run out of places to put them. Some people--you may be one of them--find this hobby childish, but I’ve yet to have someone turn down an invitation to come over and play with LEGOs.
Books on psychology, history, philosophy, anthropology, computation, and symbolic logic adorn my bookshelves, and a sea of LEGOs occupies my living room floor (that’s right, I still don’t pick up my toys). I have a few fantasy novels in my book collection as well, “The Mists of Avalon”, by Marion Zimmer Bradley, being among my favorites (it basically tells the story of King Arthur from the pagan/female perspective). I have an aversion to furniture--for a while I only had a bookcase and an inflatable mattress that no longer inflated--but am slowly recovering now having a desk, two bookcases, and a bed (I know, very bourgeois). However, I still cannot bring myself to buy a couch, and am instead rolling with a pair of bean bags. I like being able to push them out of the way, and free up my living room floor for other things like playing the Wii or building a small fort.
I view learning as a life long pursuit, and I’m always looking for other people to share the endeavor with. I acquired my degree in computer science, but I ended up having an enormous surplus of credits all over the social sciences due to my tendency to take courses that I found interesting as opposed to the ones I needed for my major. In recent years, I’ve developed an interest in philosophy, particularly in moral philosophy, philosophy of mind, and philosophy of science; in fact, I'm taking Theory of Ethics at ASU this semester.
I haven’t done as much traveling as I’d like, but I did go to Japan a few years ago for about a month. I stayed in Himeji under the gaze of a pristine pearly-white castle that overlooks the city. Aside from that, I go to the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Zoo Wild Animal Park yearly to get the grand tour from my best friend who works there. I could spend all day watching the apes interact at the Zoo, especially the bonobos. Bonobos are like chimpanzees but with more awesome. Unlike chimpanzees, their troops tend to be led by mature females, males play a larger role in child rearing, they are more likely to engage in cooperative activity, and just generally seem to have more going on cognitively. They do pose a slight public relations issue for zoos, as they engage in an inordinate amount of reproductive activity and use some of the same positions popular amongst us humans. Further complicating matters, primarily with regard to the conservative types, they will frequently perform such activities with members of the same sex. This probably explains why the bonobo exhibit does not afford one the close up view that the gorilla and orangutan exhibits provide. I like giraffes too, they're always willing to stick their necks out for me.

Went to school out here and ended up loving the weather (most of the time) and stayed, to make a long story short. I guess I would describe myself as a pretty laid back individual.
