I was raised in Kansas City with Midwestern values, but was born in the southwest and love southwestern culture, literature, and weather. I am eclectic in my music style, I like a little bit of everything; but my favorite is country. I became catholic in college, though religion is important to me, I am not a regular church goer. I teach 9th and 10th grade English, so planning and grading keep me busy, but I always find time for my family and friends. The last 6 years of teaching I have allowed my work to consume my life, I am ready for life to consume me and not spend at much time working.
I am a breast cancer survivor (24 when diagnosed), and also survived cardiac arrest due to a genetic heart condition. All is well now, my experiences have made me a stronger person and someone who values everyday. I am not shy about what has happened to me and believed it happened for a reason.

I LOVE my job...for the most part! My students are all truly amazing and as much as they learn from me, I also learn a ton from them.
I just finished the process to become a National Board Certified Teacher. It was A LOT of work, but a very reflective process and one that truly has improved my teaching practices.
Family is very important to me and I can honestly say there are days I wish I was closer to them. For now, I surround my self with my friends who I have adopted as my Arizona family.
