Date a man from United States. I've lived in AZ my whole life; mostly in the east valley. I moved to the Glendale area about 6-7 years ago but I still spend a lot of time with my friends in the east valley. I've very driven professionally. I'm grateful for all of the opportunites I've had in my life. I think it's easy to take things for granted so I try to remind myself that I'm very fortunate. I was raised in the U.S. Virgin Islands. We moved to NYC so my father could finish his phd and there I stayed for the 20 years. I went to high school and college and opened my own yoga studio in my mid-20s after training abroad, in Asia, for a few months. Yoga is certainly one of my passions, but the universe told me in some not-so-subtle ways that it was time to move on. I sold my practice a few months ago and decided to settle here in the Phoenix area.
Some of you may best avoid me for the following reasons:
a) I?m a social being, and hope you are too, but I?m fiercely loyal and faithful and demand the same from my partner. Once you reach a point of ?love? in a relationship, and even well before, there comes a time where a person?s true personality comes out. If you?re prone to infidelity, to lying, to deceit, to moments of Match shopping addictions when you should be focused on your actual relationship, no matter how beautiful you are, I simply won?t waste my time. I cannot make you a priority if I?m only another option for you.
b) For what it?s worth, if you?re still on Match and have been dating a guy longer than a month, you need to have a heart to heart with that guy and either give yourself wholly to your partner, or decommit, like as of yesterday. We live in a clandestinely immoral culture, where people think it?s OK to cheat ? visually, emotionally, physically, intellectually ? with strangers and think nothing of it, because the internet provides A convenient hiding place. Match is an enabler in that regard, if only because it gives people a ?convenient? place to focus their addictions for online interactions at the expense of actual relationships. I?m looking for a relationship, a committed relationship. I yearn for companionship, to be able to know my partners secrets, secrets she tells only me, for something more than just a match or textual relationship. I yearn for a deep, emotional connection that only time, lots of time, patience and love can create, and if you?re still texting your old boyfriends, flings and the like, you simply aren?t committed, no matter how much you tell yourself otherwise.
c) I don?t live in the past and I don?t focus on the future. To me, when Christians refer to the ?eternal,? I think ?eternal? is achieved by living in the moment, focusing on what is in front of you and being grateful for what life gives you. If Victor Frankl can survive the concentration camps of WWII, any one of us can survive virtually anything thrown in front of us while donning a smile on our face.
To the good, beautiful souls out there, I apologize for putting those things first, but I have to weed out those I know I won?t b connect with before getting to who I am. Here are some of my qualities, honed by years of yoga, deep friendships and meaningful relationships:
I?m honest, faithful, pensive, and a deep thinker?but I?m also extremely happy, a comedian at heart and as compassionate a person as you?ll ever meet. I donate time, money and effort to helping the disadvantaged, the less fortunate. I believe in ?doing good,? in the golden rule, in treating everyone as I want to be treated. I don?t yell, I?m wholly opposed to emotional control and manipulation and I believe in finding peace, love and serenity in life. Chris Hedges and Noam Chomsky have been my mentors, but nothing describes my life quite like this quote from Frankl:
"Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing: the last of human freedoms to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
May light and love be your guides. When you give of yourself, fully and without the hesitation we ate all so used to, magical things will happen.
