Date someone special from Alabama, United States. I like intellectual pursuits, but do not consider myself an intellectual. I enjoy the paths less taken, the common elements of mankind, the obscure and unnoticed, and the interesting people who are not pretentious. Education is a constant activity for me because there is so much I do not know. I like spending time with people who share this attitude.
I love to travel and am comfortable in most any venue whether it is enjoying a seafood dinner at Wintzel's on Mobile St here in Fairhope, or a five course meal at La Coupole on Montparnasse in Paris, or the latest culinary treat at the French Cooking School on lower Broadway in New York City.
I really enjoy the arts and as a result have visited many of the major art museums in the western world. Since I like the impressionists, my favorite is Musee d'Orsay. I enjoyed going to the very spots where Cezanne, Van Gogh, and Monet painted. It was nice to wander around Arles, France and locate the scenes that Van Gogh painted when he lived there in his Yellow House. And, it was was with pleasure that I enjoyed charcrute in Brasserie Lipp, as Hemingway described in his book, A Moveable Feast.
I also enjoy listening to music; the genius of Mozart, the power of Beethoven, the intricacy of Bach, the elegance of Duke Ellington, and the unbridled fun of Jimmy Buffet. I spend a lot of time listening to NPR because I like its music and programs.
What would I like in a companion? Well, someone who is well grounded and enjoys being themselves. Someone who enjoys others for being themselves. Someone who knows where they are and where they want to go and how to take the critical path to get there. At the same time, they should be aware of other people and their concerns so they can be compassionate.
I have been writing for about a year, and recently my first short story was published. I have submitted other works in literary contests.

Am pretty laid back most of the time. I not a fitness nut, but like being active. I have a good set of values and have a positive outlook. I love dancing-all kinds, but mainly swing and polka -2 or 3 times a week, sailing on my 26 ft boat – watching the sun go down and the moon come up, hiking-especially in north Alabama and Tennessee when the leaves are turning, bike riding , traveling - been to 47 states, Israel, Egypt, Holland, Italy, Canada and Mexico. I love creating landscapes, rooting and growing plants, building things out of wood, making things with stain glass, all kinds of sports – mainly football, just lots of things. I believe that God has richly blessed me and given me a great life with a great future. I want a match who truly believes that, "The Best is Yet to Come."
