. I have been scuba-diving in Thailand, river surfing in New Zealand, sky-diving in Australia, biking in Germany, and cliff jumping in Macedonia. But yet, I still sometimes feel that this dating thing is the biggest adventure of all.
My life so far has been spent doing the things that I felt were important to my growth. As many do, I went to college (UCSB), then spent a few years out of the country volunteering with the Peace Corps (and subsequent traveling, of course). After coming back I went to graduate school for a Masters degree, and then took a tenure-track job in Solano county a couple of years ago. I am now full-time faculty at a community college, and while it is hard to describe what teaching does for me, it is definitely my passion.
I have been lucky enough to have traveled to many places in this world, but there is still so much to see. I just got back from traveling for the month of June in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. I can't imagine being with anyone who doesn't share my love of travel. But if they don't, I have plenty of travel friends that I can go with instead, as long as they don't mind being left behind.
Someone who makes me laugh would be amazing, and I sometimes think it is the only thing I am really looking for. BUT, it would be great to find someone who really challenges me to see different perspectives, or consider a new idea. I think that a broad wordlview is really important for tolerance and acceptance of others, and I love a guy who enjoys helping those in need.
I do keep myself active, and alternate days of running with circuit training, and have also been getting into hot yoga, which I do two days a week. My sister and I ran the LA marathon in March by each doing half of it, we raised money and ran for a charity, but I basically try to mix up my workouts as I feel that is the best for my body.
And so here I am. It has been great so far, but I think it could be better with someone else. Now that I know who I am and what I want, I am hoping I can find a person who wants the same things. Not ALL the same things, mind you, but enough to create compatibility, and a great relationship. If you think it could be you, I'd love to find out.
