The fact is, the last time I was in the market for a good looking lady to date was 31 years ago-long before Match or even the internet; this kind of thing happened in the halls of my high school and we'd given up the in-depth writing of "check yes or no" for actual face to face flirting and awkward requests for a date. Sometimes, it actually worked.
Well, the stage is different and my life doesn't give me many moments of face to face flirtation as I work predominantly at home and I'm not one to frequent bars or clubs to GET a date; I'd rather go to a quiet jazz club or romantically lit place WITH my date. So, here I am again, awkwardly asking. And, truthfully, I'm pretty excited about it.
I enjoy working out but am certainly no body builder. I like to cook but will never be a chef. I like movies; and while I enjoy looking for foreshadowing and symbolism and trying to discern the director's message, I don't know near enough to be a critic (I never seem to agree with what the critics say, anyway). I like trying different wines and beers and learning about and-if given the chance-interacting with people from other cultures. Right now, the only people and culture I'm really interested in learning about are the ones living right around here close to my new residence.
I'm uncomfortable around obsessiveness and condescension. I don't like holier-than-thous or know-it-alls.
