Date men from United States / Arkansas / Mountain View, 46 year old

Date single man from Mountain View, United States. I am a fun-loving man that needs a woman that is the same. I not worried about a supermodel or a BBW as I am not the sharpest either. So if your interested in a down to earth man that lives each day like his last, then lets talk.

Meet a man from Mountain View, United States. OK, so here I am trying to describe myself in one or two brief paragraphs, which takes away from the beauteous process of learning about someone over the course of time, which often is full of pleasant surprises, surprises which makes, in my book, life more interesting. However, since this is the format I must follow, I will attempt a description even though lacking it will be. First, though, I need to say that often in my life I have found that a quote by Somerset Maugham seems to describe my character: “People often think I am being serious when I am funny, and funny when I am being serious.” So, be warned!
To begin, I studied the Classics at a school in the Midwest, the University of Notre Dame to be exact, where I read tons of books, mostly philosophy and literature. During this time I learned my first main rule of life: do what makes you happy. Period. So, when I graduated, I attempted to become a professional cyclist, and competed throughout the United States and Europe. I have to admit, my time in Europe was the best: the culture and lifestyle is one of enjoyment and leisure (I know, a sweeping generalization, but that’s what I saw!), and I have come to believe that I am a “displaced European.” Maybe someday I will venture over there to live permanently. Who knows? But I’m here now. To continue…I raced for 15 years, loved every second of it, but there is only so long you can dedicate to sports. Along the way I lived for short stints in various places throughout the world, such as Thailand, Belgium, and Ireland. Yet, while I was racing, I always felt I wanted to return to school, so I’m getting my Master’s Degree at Stanford. I will also admit that I am a literary geek of sorts: I love James Joyce, William Faulkner, Virginia Woolf, and e.e. cummings. I am fully in awe of people who know how to put words in such a way that evokes powerful and deep emotions, and I cannot help but admire them. I have just finished writing a book, but publishers aren’t too receptive these days, so I give it to all my friends to read and hopefully they come back with positive feedback. I’m trying to be one of those writers who, indeed, has the ability to put words in that special way, but I’m not sure I’m there yet, or if I’ll ever get there, but I’m trying.
Finally, I have two dogs. They are great, and keep me company, and they have taught me the second main rule of life: to take immense joy in the simple things in life. So, to them, I give hearty thanks.
There you have it! If you want to meet someone as quirky as me, I’m up for it!
