I’ve recently come out of a 20-year marriage and am looking to develop a relationship with an attractive, mature and independent woman. I’m hoping that somewhere out there is a woman for whom a relationship with a man doesn’t threaten her own sense of self or independence. I’m looking to find that delicate balance between independence and togetherness because, quite frankly, life and all it has to offer is just more fun when I’m sharing it with someone else.
By way of background, I was born and raised in Chicago, and during the course of my education and career, I have had the occasion to live in such places as Riverside CA, Tucson AZ, Portland OR, Stamford CT, and Madison WI before ending up in Little Rock some 20 years ago. (Not to mention an eight-month post-high school stint in Puebla Mexico, which was kind of a "rite of passage" back in those days.)
I have a Ph.D. in Sociology (University of Arizona) with post-doctoral work in Demography (University of Wisconsin) and since coming to Arkansas I have been working in and around various state agencies. My primary goal through all this work has been to bring solid, reliable and unbiased ideas and information to bear on significant issues of public policy.
My friends would describe me as smart, sensitive and unconventional, with a wicked sense of humor. (Given what I do for a living, a good sense of humor is an absolute necessity.) Politically, I’m so far to the left that I sometimes catch myself coming around from the right. At the risk of cliche, I would describe myself as “spiritual, but not conventionally religious.” I believe that real happiness and contentment come to me when my conscious ego is disengaged and I just let things come and be as they are.
As for “fun,” I’m up for just about anything. I enjoy good food, either made at home or out at restaurants. (I’m a pretty good cook, so don’t worry about being saddled with that responsibility.) I am a film buff, with an extensive video collection (classics, foreign and otherwise interesting) and a fairly nice home theatre system. I enjoy working around my house, and could be perfectly content just raking leaves with you on a nice, crisp fall day (your place or mine). But then again, I would be just as likely to take off for Mazatlan just for an interesting road trip.
I’m sure that by now I’ve either bored or scared off 99 percent of you. But it only takes one unique woman who can appreciate this mixed bag of traits and experiences that I call myself. If you’re that one, please give me a holler.
