. I was born in Cape Town, South Africa and moved to the U.S. about 25 years ago (sorry, the accent is long gone!) I am a social worker for a local AIDS Service Organization and absolutely love what I do. I cannot imagine doing anything else. I would describe myself as happy, positive, direct, driven, thoughtful and silly! I l can't tell a joke to save my life, but I have been told that I have a really dry sense of humor. At first glance, I know that I may come across as a girly girl. I love dresses, high heels, hand bags, shopping etc. However, something that might surprise you about me - I am SUPER handy! I completely renovated my town home in Phoenix on my own. I laid tile and wood laminate floors, repainted the entire home included all the cabinetry, put in new baseboards, hung new lights (including the kitchen light which required me to wear heels so I could reach the ceiling - I'm 5 ft 2"!), did drywalling in the bathrooms and replaced all the faucets in the house. I really love the feeling of a job well done and appreciate the sweat (and sometimes tears) that went into the project. Besides, I hate paying someone else to do something that I could easily do myself!
My family and friends are the most important things in my life and I try to spend as much time with them as possible. My family is scattered all over the world and I try to make a trip to seem them every few years. In fact, I have a trip planned for South Africa this year and can't wait to spend a week on the beach with my family.
