You could say I'm an intellectual, but I'm also in touch with my emotions: like the majority of people who are honest with themselves, I've cried when I've watched movies like Sleepless in Seattle. Ok, I'll admit, I cried at Toy Story 3, too. I have a job I really enjoy, but I'm certainly not a workaholic. I have a network of friends that I keep in touch with; most of them live out of state, but I still think it's important to try keeping lines of communication open. In the spirit of honesty -- which is one of my core values -- though my relationship status says I'm divorced, the divorce isn't final yet, but there is zero chance of reconciliation though our process toward divorce is amicable. The romantic connection and intimacy have been gone for years, so we've been emotionally divorced for a long time. We only stayed together as long as we did for the kids, until I finally realized that it's better for them to be from a broken home than to live in a home that's broken. Now we are working on finalizing the papers, but this takes some time in Arizona. Though our marriage didn't work out, I'll always have respect for the woman who gave me the greatest gift in my life: our kids (who live mostly with her).

Despite my desire to impress you with my manly prowess and lead you to believe that I spend my action-packed weekends going camping, hiking, skiing, whitewater canoeing, fishing/hunting, spelunking, scuba diving, mountain climbing and all those other adventurous and extreme activities, the truth is that I spend most weekends around home, enjoying the company of my friends or my girls, or geeking out at my computer, or working on keeping my place clean and tidy, ironing or sewing or laundry, or curling up with a good book or TV show. Now, don't get the impression that I'm not adventurous: my motto has always been, I'll try anything twice (if I don't love it the first time, it may just be a fluke). I'm no great chef, but there are a few dishes I'm good at and like to make; I keep my eye out for new recipes that look tasty and not too fattening, and try them from time to time, usually successfully. I listed my body type as "about average," though I detest thinking of myself as "average" in pretty much anything in my life. I have, in fact, actually done every one of those adventurous things I listed above at one time or another, just not on a regular basis.
