The whole feeling of "shopping" for a match in this online forum feels a bit awkward and a little wrong to be honest. A perfect match boils down to chemistry and sometimes it goes beyond definition but, if I had to put a top characteristic for compatibility, it would have to be communication. There's definitely two sides to me. Spontaneous and Mellow. I enjoy getting outdoors, discovering new restaurants, weekend getaways (favorites including Tahoe, Napa, and Monterey) and new hiking / biking trails (and if you're a tennis player to, all the better!). Then there's the more mellow / cultured side of me that enjoys just taking in movies, visiting museums and relaxing at home. I am also a painter / graphic designer, so I enjoy finding time to work on a creative project which kind of serves as meditation. Oh, and I am rediscovering piano (I will spare you my bad playing until I know you better). And, as far as my general demeanor goes, I'm about as genuine and down to earth as it gets. Im a biology teacher living and working in the east bay burbs. I really love my job, because i love science, especially bio (who doesnt?), and the students are almost always really cool too. Except on their bad days. I do feel gulity about the outrageous salaries/benefits/bonuses teacher make, but i accept it and prevail. I think i am funny, and that always works well with the students.
I'm a single man who lives alone, so i think that amazingly clean shot of my BR speaks volumes for my hygiene. Cleanliness is very important; not that i vacuum and dust every day. What can i say? That room sparkles. I thought it was a clever idea...
I like to be physically active - i like being outdoors as much as possible. I snowboard. I mountain bike. I hike (used to do it a lot with my dog, not as much as id like to these days). Those are a few simple joys in my life. I work hard to stay in-shape, I just try to remain consistent. Good music (my definition of that includes about every genre)
Though i like to keep things fun and I'm not the most serious guy, i do get into politics. I think it does matter; i like critical thinkers. i enjoy Real Time w/Maher, listening to NPR for my news -- that's me.
I'm a little older than i used to be (it's all a matter of perspective, but im not too old for anything yet -- too wise for some things, perhaps), but my genes are strong and I'm not slowing down yet. What my age brings me is a grounded perspective, stability -- i know who i am, i know where i want to be (but I'm not saying I'm there yet), i know what i want, and i know who i am looking for. Plus i have all these great lifelong habits that keep me going strong now (plus off-setting the few - if any - bad habits), and should continue to pay-off later...
