Date a man from California, United States. I'm a professional: Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, adjunct professor, consultant, and inventor in the field of "green" energy systems.
I'm 45, 6'3", 196 lb, and I would think "athletic and toned".
I grew up in Dallas, got all my degrees at Texas AM Univ., then worked 5 years in San Jose where I loved sailing on SF Bay and hiking and snowboarding at Lake Tahoe. I moved to San Diego in 2000 for another job and to enjoy all this locale has to offer: sun, ocean, climate, scenery, Balboa Park, Little Italy, Gaslamp,.....
I have two beautiful children (they take after their mom) who are healthy, and very bright. They are the legacy of my 9 year marriage to Jennifer, who was taken from me by cancer in 2008 when she was only 42.
Obviously, we're a package deal, my children and I. My kids have a beloved nanny 2-3 afternoons and evenings each week, which allows me to get more RD done, as well as enjoy the company of friends, and to spend time with that special someone if she comes into my life.
WHO I'D LIKE TO MEET:
The type of woman I would like to meet would be tall or even very tall, svelte and athletic, intelligent, educated, and sharp witted. She would be mature, self-confident, kind, and love children - no surprises there.
She would be a Christian, perhaps Catholic, or "spiritual but not religious" if that means Christian but perhaps not a member of any congregation.
She should maintain a healthy lifestyle (diet, exercise, recreation, mental stimulation) that she is intent upon keeping up with for life, just as I do. It would be great if she enjoys the outdoors, especially the ocean, and enjoys traveling, particularly to the tropics and Europe.
I'd also like to take her to symphony concerts, museums, and other authentic (not pop) cultural venues. I'm quite a good cook, and enjoy having friends over for dinner, and hope she would be similarly sociable.
MY KIDS:
Anthony is 9, quite tall, wiry, reserved yet goofy sometimes. He's keenly observant and a deep thinker with a very organized and categorical mind (like his engineer dad if I may say so). He plays chess and he's good at it. He's a whiz at laser tag, often winning against dozens of teens and twenty-somethings. He loves track (he's fast in the 1/4, 1/2, 1 mile) and basketball, and is determined to be in the NBA.
Rachel is 7, very tall, lean, and muscular even at her age. Envision a future beach volleyball player - or Amazon. She too excels in her studies, and shows artistic talent. She's starting basketball; maybe she'll get a full ride scholarship to a great college. She's (too) clever, sweet, and a girlie-girl with a huge personality to match her stature.
I am extremely fortunate that God entrusted them to my care, and I pray every day for the wisdom, patience, and firmness yet gentleness to raise them right.
MY PLANS:
They're old enough now and good enough swimmers for me to start taking them on sailing and snorkeling trips in the tropics (Hawaii, Virgin Islands, Caymans, Tahiti,...), where I can do some SCUBA diving, and the kids too when they reach 10. Have you ever tried SCUBA? Or sailing?
I've also gotten them started on snowboarding at Big Bear, because I love it, and intend once again to spend a lot more time on the slopes with them at Tahoe, Mammoth, Whistler, and elsewhere --- the Alps sounds good too.
This past summer I took them on a drive up the Left Coast to visit a couple of my brothers in San Jose and Olympia. We spent considerable time at many natural wonders along the way: Yosemite, Tahoe, Lassen Volcanic Park, Crater Lake, the Redwoods, and the OR and CA coast.
And when they're old enough to start enjoying culture, which will be soon, we'll travel all around the Mediterranean, including cruising and sailing the Spanish Isles, Corsica, Sardinia, Riviera, Italian coast, Adriatic, Aegean....
