I grew up in Michigan, lived in the Bay Area for some number of years before moving out to Colorado about 5 years ago. I moved out here for the balanced lifestyle. I generally like to stay pretty active, working out a few times a week, playing in a lacrosse league, the usual hiking and snowboarding. I have run a couple of marathons, but I've started training for my first triathlon with Team in Training. It's going to be an interesting summer.
I also have no problem spending a Saturday evening at home, because that bar scene got old along time ago. I watch TV/movies, definitely sports, spend time with my dog. I travel quite a bit, occasionally for work, but usually for fun. I'll always have a couple of trips on the horizon, because I want to experience new cultures and new things, like trying a new dish in a foreign country (Canada and Mexico don't count). Speaking of food, I'm a bit of a foodie and enjoy good dishes and good drinks. And, I love...wait for it...to cook. Give a man a grill, and he's in heaven.
My family and friends are the most important to me. I come a big, diverse family, and I was fortunate to grow up with my extended family all around me. No matter how apart we live from each other, we remain very close and there's nothing we wouldn't do for each other, especially when it involves a party. We'll be the first to break out dancing Bhangra (don't know what that is? You will).
I know where I am in my life, and know what I want. My life is pretty stable and settled, but that doesn't mean it's boring (although I can't say laundry is all that fun, either). It's really about finding the right balance, being healthy but not denying oneself a good burger once in a while, enjoying what this beautiful state has to offer with the occasional lazy Sunday Top Chef marathon on TV.
My ideal woman is awesome. She doesn't "complete me," but complements me. The person that shares the same values, bringing her own strengths to the relationship, where we can challenge each other to bring out the best in each other. She is mature, yet is a kid at heart. She should be pretty settled in her life and pretty sure of herself, not afraid of the future, looking forward to having a family of her own. She should be the type that gets giddy when the holidays come around, excited about the little things, enjoying the time spent with family and friends and pets, who'd rather give more of herself than worry about what she's getting in return.
