My career in interactive media is starting to snowball as I move into middle management right now, but it still typically doesn't keep me busy beyond office hours so I've got plenty of time to spend with family and friends (important!). I also have quite a few personal interests / hobbies that I try and tackle in my off time.
I'm not a heavy party-goer but can definitely get into that sort of thing from time to time. I'm big on Chicago restaurants, nightlife, concerts, etc. and love to travel pretty much anywhere. I spend a good deal of time exercising to make up for the first one. I'm also a hopeless romantic (my favorite movie is the '96 version of Romeo and Juliet). Good qualities are great, but it all comes down to that feeling you get when you're around someone or thinking about them. Honesty and trust will be completely inherent to my relationship.
Don't let the "widower" scare you away! My wife passed after a three year battle with cancer. We were married 11 months but were together for quite some time. If there is one thing I know from all of this - it's not to take anything for granted. This pretty much needs to come out right off the bat, so no better way than being in my profile I suppose. I love good beer, but I'm not a beer snob. I have recently discovered how amazing wool socks are. I believe you can find more of life in the journey than in the destination, that you can only truly feel what comes from the heart, and that a little from the right person is anything but. I have a bunch of hobbies and interests, but some of the bigger ones are fly fishing, backpacking, hiking, reading, watching movies, and brewing beer. I am an intelligent and warm person, and am pretty open minded about most things. I am also very laid back and because of that I'm pretty easy to get along with. I would also say that I'm kind of an introvert, and I like to spend time on my own, even in a relationship. All in all I'm a pretty good guy. I'll hold the door open, listen when you talk, give back rubs without complaint, and genuinely try to make you happy. It is also important for me to find someone who is pursuing a relationship because they want to, not because they need to. On a lighter note I would like to find someone who is fun and versatile, because I believe those are two traits that I possess. I like being able to take a girl out to a nice dinner, but I also like simple stuff, like getting a sandwich and a beer, or cooking together, or just watching a movie with a glass of wine. So Instead of a well planned and easy to read self summary, I am just going to rattle of random facts about myself with no logical organization as they occur to me. The first fact is that I managed to graduate from college without ever developing any sort of appreciable essay writing skills.
Alright, now that that awkward introduction is out of the way here's some stuff.
I like video games. lets just get that out of the way. not to the point where it interferes with my life, but I do play them frequently. I also like anime. basically, I am a geek. that's a sticking point for some people so I thought I'd come right out and admit it.
I don't like sports. I can enjoy going to a baseball game or something for the social aspect, but for the most part, I don't really know anything about them, at least not enough to hold a conversation.
the last thing I'll say here is that I have a thirst for adventure. this is an interesting problem for me, because I never get to do anything exciting. all my friends are pretty indoorsy types, so as much as I would love to go mountain biking, sky diving, ice climbing, snowboarding, camping etc.. I don't have anyone to go with, and I don't actually know how to go do those things. its pretty frustrating. I would love to meet someone to drag me into that world.
Beyond that I'm mostly looking for anyone who either shares my interests, or is tolerant of them. basically just someone I get along with.
