Date women from United States / California / National City, 30 year old

Date someone special from National City, United States. I'm pretty much a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, though I've been told I clean up well. I've very much been a homebody as of late; I'm a fan of staying in and watching TV with a good meal and brew, but I like going out as well. I like to read, though lately I've just been reading a lot of internet junk, like blogs and the such. I like "cheezburgers" and memes and fails and all that silly stuff, but I also like to read science-y type things, that is, until it gets too technical. Hey, did you see that they found a particle consistent with the Higgs boson? I have no idea what that really means. Morgan Freeman tried to explain it to me, but even then I couldn't really understand.
I can be pretty silly. No. I like to be silly, because America! I can't math. I fear that I am pretty ordinary, just like everyone. I procrastinate. I can play three chords on the guitar, but I can play them really well, Ok, pretty well. Ok, I kind of know where to put my fingers. I'm shy, but I can hold my own at a party. I never finished knitting the scarf I started knitting two years ago. I am a gentle soul and sometimes, when it's gloomy, I like to lose myself in my memories.
UPDATE: I finished the scarf. I've moved on to another knitting project that has more time constrains. Basically it's a baby blanket for a friend, but I think that kid will be well in his teens before I finish it. Crossing fingers this isn't the case.
I like to experiment in the kitchen as I am a fan of food. I'll be honest though, I have, in at least one occasion, thrown out a pot of what can only be described as an inedible abomination. I would like to learn how to surf one day, if I can just get over my terrible fear or drowning. And sharks. And don't tell me they aren't out there cause they just spotted one in La Jolla. I try to stay on the active side, though I played quite a bit of tennis when I was younger, and I fear my injuries like to creep up on me once in a while. Still, I try and get to the gym every once in a while. Though I would like to get outdoors more, any takers? Hiking? Tennis? Learn me to surf? Break out the old roller blades for a day of 90's-style skating? Extra points for fanny packs, headbands and/or wristbands.
I'm a bit of a scaredy cat, but it hasn't kept me from trying new things, for example, this online thing. I'll be honest though, I have no idea what I am doing. I realized I don't have too many pictures of myself as I never mastered the angled more-boob, less-chin self portrait. I have found that interests and adjectives vary to a multitude of degrees, but values tend to be more consistent. What do you value? I am looking for someone who is looking to make a connection and have a meaningful, long-term relationship. I am looking for someone with a good sense of humor, who isn't afraid of his emotions or of expressing them. I'm looking for someone who I can learn from and who, hopefully, can also learn from me. Except math, because, well, I can't math.
But hey, if all else fails, I'm told I am a good friend. And I don't mean "friend," so get your mind out the gutter. So let's hang out!
