I started life on a small farm in Iowa until my parents sold the farm and moved to California when I was 13 years old. Yes, I did get up at 5 AM every morning and do chores when I was a kid. Growing up on a farm you learn to be self-sufficient and how to figure things out for yourself. That has a lot to do with the kind of person I am today. I did grow up in a Christian home and I have that faith today.
After a divorce at 29 years old I went back to school and spent the next 10 years getting a BS in Accounting and an MBA from ASU. Just decided I wanted an education. But after a few years of trying the "professional" life it didn't take long to figure out it wasn't for me. I have been self-employed much of my life and continue to be today. I have a business here in Fountain Hills (with an office and warehouse and real employees and everything).
I have two grown children who live in Southern California and I make several trips a year to see them and the rest of my family. All my family lives over there. Personally I prefer the country and small-town living suits me just fine. If I could I'd move further up the road to Pinetop. If you think San Francisco, or LA, or New York city is just the greatest place to be, you and I will probably not get along very well.
I have been clean and sober for 14 years (yes I go to those meetings). I don't mind if you drink, but if drinking is important to you we are probably not a good match.
I enjoy camping, hiking, riding my mountain bike, taking my Jeep out on off-road excursions, and traveling to out of the way places. Trips to the high country in the summer, etc. I enjoy the outdoors more then the indoors. Nice resorts are fine as long as there is something to see or things to go do. I don't know why anyone would spend a bunch of money to stay in a fancy resort just laying around the pool, getting a massage, etc. I can do that at home.
