While I dont wear makeup generally, I am a girly girl and like all the things that most women like. However, I do know how to use a screwdriver and a hammer. I have assembled and moved furniture, painted walls, hung chair railing and wallpaper, fixed a running toilet, and even helped connect the water hoses to my new washer a few weeks ago. Dont get me wrong, I love getting dressed up, putting on my heels and being together from head to toe. I pledged AKA, but am often told that I dont act like an AKA bc I am too down to earth (talk about sterotypes). Additionally, while I am a southern girl, and do have southern hospitality, I do not cook like the supposed southern girl. For family gatherings, I always get stuck with bringing a salad, drinks, paper products or dessert. However, this past 4th of July, I added grilled corn on the cob with olive oil and rosemary to my list... it was a hit! I try to eat healthy and would prefer a salmon burger over a bacon cheddar burger anyday. As a matter of fact, I dont even eat pork and limit my red meat intake. While I cook differently than most people, I do like to try new recipes and am actually an excellent baker. You may not get smothered chicken, but I can bake a german chocolate cake that is FABULOUS.... Sweet girls like sweet things.......I am actually using my love for baking to start a small business this fall.
I am the baby of 2 children (older brother) and am a true daddys girl. I am also my mommys heart, so it makes sense that my parents are my best friends. While my unexpected blessing was born just as I began 3rd semester toward my PhD, I didnt stop my studies and actually used his birth as the catalyst to finish strong and continue to strive for excellence. Mediocracy is unacceptable for me and I work hard to create opportunities for professional and personal growth. I appreciate and expect the same tenacity in a mate.
I love to travel and have been many places, but know that there is so much more that I want to see. I am eager to get to Greece and Italy and back to Bermuda. I hope to convey the love for adventure to my son, who at 3, has already been to the Virgin Islands and 12 different states. (making sure he scores high on his SATs). I enjoy watching sports (more so during playoff time), going to the beach, boating on the lake, craft projects, some movies (horrors and violence require red wine), reading, swimming, shopping, playing the piano, being with my family/friends, and sometimes just doing nothing at all. I dont watch a lot of tv bc of the nonesense they show, but if I do, it will be House, Law and Order, Smash, Matlock, or The First 48.
