College basketball is my favorite. My kids are amazing. I am lucky to be their mom. Most importantly I am looking for someone I like and want to be around for more than just coffee!

I'm an active "eco-geek" who also aspires to the qualities described in Proverbs 31 - and believe that that requires something of an "equal" (but male) response on the part of a man. My potential date must have a smile and use it, brains and use them, beliefs that are active. He must be truly honest and lead a decently (defining this is a separate conversation) healthy lifestyle. He must also own a toothbrush and use it daily without prompting (Yes, even while camping!).
7/12 - I've finally "joined" so hadn't been able to view msgs, etc.if you sent before... Have been very busy getting Kiddo into college! This dating business has been languishing on the back burner, as it takes so much time - ugh. Placer County, where I live, is so very "married," at least in my world, which mainly consists of work (in education), church and missions, ferrying the teens about, procuring and preparing food, brief escapes to the woods/water, and dogs. But a LOT of each of those! The kid and I went on a "Homes of Hope" home building trip through church over Spring Break - it was great! I'm looking for a partner who will think that such a trip is a good use of time, money, and talent, a person who may go/have gone on one too. I'm not looking for a partner who is "just like me," but we do need to connect similarly in the areas of spiritual beliefs, environment/health, and intelligence/education. As for politics, I can't just check a box - I'm too conservative to be liberal, too liberal to be conservative, highly annoyed by those terms; don't think my religious check box determines my political one! There, that effectively just screened out about 90 % of my dating pool, huh? That, and the fact that I am both committed as a Christian AND committed as an ecologist/naturalist! Two things that got me excited this morning: A swallowtail butterfly and a honeybee side-by-side in a flower cluster, and that my compost is working - steaming along - geek, I told you!

Why isn't there an "interest" or "sports" check box for kayaking?
I don't think much of online dating, especially "long distance," and think it's part of the reason I'm not meeting you guys out in the real world, doing the activities we say we enjoy... BTW, if you are still legally in a relationship, or really haven't taken the time to "recover" from your current/previous one, then go and heal - its worth it - do it for yourself, your kids, and your future mate ;)
