I grew up in Boston. Great place to be a kid. Traveled/work extensively in the US and abroad; settled in CA 14 years ago. Family, friends and nature are very important to me. They are my foundation and something tangible in this changing world. Laughter is the best way into my (anyone's) heart. In general, people and life are impressive; much of it depends on our perspective. We all have some much potential which I believe is worth exploring. Reading, good conversation, being in nature, exploring, physical activity, mediation and engaging all types of people are my ways of learning/connecting with myself, others and life.
I'm attracted to a woman who is intelligent and has experience with different cultures, perspectives and ways of living.

I am open, honest, and real. I have a great sense of humor—at least I like to think I do; and you can be the judge of that. On Saturday afternoons, I'm covered in sawdust and the aroma of teak or afromosa.
I have a wry sense of humor and can sometimes be aloof, but my friends say they also appreciate me for my honesty, playfulness, and quirkiness. I am not expecting to find a perfect match for myself online. For one, I don't believe in the perfect principle, nor do I think that people can actually meet and understand one another until their pheromones meet in real life. But, as a full time architect and sometime furniture maker I find opportunities to meet new (single) people somewhat limited. I am someone who can be a provider, protector, supporter and I do like my sports - I'm a huge fan of both the Steelers (football) and Penguins (hockey). Luckily, I do have other facets as well and am comfortable and secure with who I am. I have no problem dating a woman who is as tall or even taller than me. Not sure why that is such a hang-up for some people. Also, if you're looking for a stereotype with the macho man facade (and other insecurity and compensation issues), :) I'm not for you and vice versa. I do have an analytical side - I'm a budget analyst in local government (hence, the "Dollars" in my profile name). But, I also have a creative side and like to be adventurous - explore and travel (I would love to see Europe, especially Paris). I like to experiment in the kitchen (even more so when I have the time). I'd like to think I even have a romantic side.
As for my pics, I realize they're not very diverse, but I'm typically behind the camera, not in front of it. I typically take pics of landscape, architecture, my significant other, my daughter, etc. I currently am beardless, just in case the clean look is preferred. :)

I have a small family, just my mom and grandma and an uncle and cousin. I love them dearly, I do not visit my mom as much as I would like to, but I keep in contact with her everyday. My mom had to be my dad when I was younger and keep a full time job and put up with me doing things like riding my motorcycle in the hallway at school.
I have traveled on a train through the Ural mountains, volunteered in South Africa, spent 3 months in the south working with hurricane katrina victims and have seen the bay from a Coast Guard ship.
