I suppose I could tell you that I'm pretty laid-back and easy to get along with. I could say that I am settling into of a new chapter here in Arizona, after living in and falling in love with Maine for a year. I could tell you that two years with the Peace Corps in Malawi made me more flexible adaptable and patient than before. Before that I grew up and lived in a very white area of rural central Illinois. Stuff doesn't get to me because I believe that everything happens for a reason, in it's own time, or however you like to say it.
I grew up on a farm and have a lot of "down-home" values. My momma done taught me good. I like to be outside, but the internet is a temptation to which I submit too easily. I enjoy going to the bar to drink a couple beers with friends. I prefer movies over TV, though I really enjoy The Office. I love good books and really good conversation. I'm not a health nut spending 8 days a week in the gym, but I do make an effort to live relatively healthy.
I'm looking for someone who I can easily hang out with, banter with and give a hard time to without any hard feelings. Or even sit quietly with and not worry about having to always fill the empty space. Someone who's generous, not judgmental and who has (or can handle, at least) a dry, sarcastic sense of humor. Someone who doesn't want to sit inside and watch the tube all day, even if it's just a walk around the block that gets you out of the house. Don't get me wrong, vegging is great sometimes, but you're not getting have any experiences if you're holed up inside all the time. I'm a proud Tucson native and love the things this city and state have to offer. Whether it's hiking in Sabino Canyon or Romero Pools, going for an evening run at Randolph Park, grabbing a drink at Congress, or having a meal at Kingfisher, I'm a fan of soaking up Tucson whenever I get the chance. I realize this may make me sound like some country bumpkin who hasn't ventured past the county line, but I've actually done a fair amount of traveling. I have family scattered on the east coast and have done most of the major cities, Chicago, San Francisco, NYC, DC. I really love to travel and explore and am lucky to have family and friends all over the country. The one thing I want to do more of is travel internationally. While Rocky Point and San Carlos are a lot of fun, I need to broaden my international horizons in the near future.
I've been a UofA fan since I was in the womb... Ok, maybe not that long. However, to this day I still remember meeting Lute Olson when I was 4 years old, probably one of the great moments of my life before the age of 10. So, when it came to college, I had to stay local. I've got a BA in Political Science and am currently in school part time for a Masters in Public Administration. The last few years I've been working on local political campaigns and am still doing that part time currently but it isn't consuming my life like it did the last few years. Which is why I'm here I suppose. I'm at a point in my life where even though I'm still pretty busy, a lot has been falling into place lately. Starting school again, not having a roommate anymore, having a good idea of what career I'd like to end up in after my Masters degree, all have me feeling very positive with where I'm headed.
So of course, now it's time for the tired cliche, but I wouldn't be writing it down or be on this site if it wasn't true. There is definitely something missing. I'm looking for someone who is comfortable doing anything from staying at home to watch Mad Men or Seinfeld reruns, to going out and meeting friends for dinner and or drinks, taking a trip here and there, all that good stuff a relationship has to offer. Someone who can appreciate my sarcastic wit, and maybe even battle it with a bit of their own, someone who is close to their family and friends as I am to mine, and a person who is active, both physically and in the community would be nice.
