Meet someone special from Colorado, United States. I view life as a glorious, epic adventure—which is why I moved to Colorado—and I'm looking for someone who lives the same way. Whenever I have free time, you'll find me rock/gym climbing, road or mountain biking, backpacking, hiking, camping, kayaking or otherwise wandering blissfully about in the backcountry. I spent what little winter we had snowboarding, backcountry skiing and snowshoeing. I like to be active, am usually training for something and always planning the next adventure.
Right now I'm focused on climbing. Extra super bonus points if you Trad lead. I'll happily drive to the crag, carry the rope, clean the pro, and buy beers at the Southern Sun after a fun day at Eldo!
Like many, I enjoy travel: everything from a weekend road trip to Moab to a month long trek in Nepal. I spent this June alpine mountain climbing in the Alaska Range, Denali National Park, which was spectacular. Lots of moose. My next BIG trip will likely be a long sabbatical to New Zealand. I'd love to find someone who is as active and excited to explore the mountains and the natural world as I am. EDIT: Learned I should be a bit clearer here. If many of these activities are things you currently enjoy on a *regular* basis, then let's chat, we might be compatible. Let's start with these common interests and go from there. And yes, I know that everyone in Colorado on Match is into the "outdoors" but it's what I do, so I want to be honest and upfront about how much time I spend doing it. Don't worry, I enjoy other activities too but I didn't move to Colorado simply to hit the Saturday farmer's market, hang at a cafe or try the new contemporary eclectic restaurant (although these things are fun).
All that said, I'm not just a nature boy. Back in the day I lived in Chicago and used to be an urban night owl and could hold my own at any party. Now you're more likely to find me at the gym before work. This does not mean, however, that I don't like to have fun or get into trouble once in awhile. I can enjoy all the amenities of a five star hotel but won't complain when faced with third world plumbing. I like reading and watching a good movie but am also very active and love to play outside. I love to eat great, healthy food and enjoy trying new restaurants but I won't turn down pizza. I have an incredibly goofy and somewhat sarcastic sense of humor but can be serious when I should be.
What qualities would I love to find in another person? There are no set criteria, but curiosity and a sense of adventure count for a lot. The desire to explore—whether it's finding something new to do close to home or planning our next excursion to a far away land—will certainly capture my attention. Show me something new, share your enthusiasm with me, and I'm a happy man. Someone who is confident, positive, laid back and very fit will turn my head. A woman who enjoys challenges and will just try harder when the going gets tough, without complaint. I also value generosity, kindness, a silly sense of humor, patience and a quick smile. I admire those who have close, loving relationships with their family, as I do. So while it's difficult to put it all into words, I can recognize and appreciate the spark if I'm fortunate enough to find it. Oh, and I don't watch a lot of network TV, so if that's your thing you might want to pass on by. I can feel myself getting dumber when trapped by reality shows.

In many ways, I'm a study in contrasts. I'm fiercely loyal but just as independent. I don't live in the past but I've definitely learned from it. I believe that you alone can make yourself happy and if you can't do that, well, it's gonna be tough road. I can discuss Shakespeare and play with Legos at the same time. I’m a “laugh out loud" type of person and making somebody laugh or smile really does make my day. I’m also very straightforward and honest person which tends to get me into trouble at times. I'm a firm believer that if you aren't happy, you have two choices: work harder to make yourself happy or change the circumstances that are making you unhappy. More than anything, be passionate at what you do and passionate about the people you are with. And treat everybody with respect and honesty, even if they don't deserve it. That includes the waiter who for some reason can't remember that you ordered a Pinot Noir 20 minutes ago.
You can usually find me on a hiking path, throwing a ball for my dog, a glass of wine in my hand, a smile on my face, or singing a song as loud as can. Sometimes all at the same time. I love having the wind blowing through my hair as I ride up Hoosier Pass (yes, that's a joke). I've traveled extensively have a list of places I want to go to next. You won't find me at the gym working my ass off so I can make the cover of GQ or trying on the latest fashions. I'm a jeans and t-shirt guy and I'm pretty happy with how I look and especially who I am. I've worked hard to get here and if that included a few too many cervezas along the way, I'll try working them off in my own time. Of course my wardrobe needs a makeover, my diet could use improvement and my house sure would look better with some paint on the white walls (if I could only figure out a color). My subtle way of saying I'm far from perfect but I'm happy with me and willing to work at it to make me better.
What do I want? I’m looking for somebody who I can sing a song with in the car, dance around the house with dogs, stop our hike for 10 minutes just to look at the color of the changing leaves, going skiing and find the hot tub with new found friends, jump on the motorcycle and head out for breakfast, or plan a killer trip to Oregon to go wine tasting. I want to sit in completely different rooms reading our books and then have dinner to discuss them. See a movie and laugh about how each of us is totally wrong in our interpretation of it. Try a new recipe and hopefully enjoy the meal and if we don't, laugh at how much it sucked. I want to walk up to you standing in line and smell your perfume, look in your eyes and know.
One thing to know, I'm a big "kid" person (just ask my married friends) and was a former camp counselor and high school teacher (including two years as a behavioral disorder teacher). I "get" kids and they usually gravitate to me. If you have kids, I'd love to meet them but I also understand the complexities of having another man in the picture. Been through that with my own parents twice.

Date people from Colorado, United States. Well, here we are! At that place in life where if we are on this website, life probably isn't exactly turning out according to plan LOL! After plenty of life's unexpected twists and turns I have realized that "normal" is only a setting on the washing machine and life is what you decide it should be :) I do believe that life was not meant to go through alone and would like to share the rest of it with someone very special. When I wrote in the headline wanting someone "REAL" that should be obvious to say just be who you are from the start.
My pictures are all recent. They are all from within the last year up to July of 2012. I am usually told on the first date that my pictures don't do me justice, I guess that is a compliment :)
People describe me as very happy and outgoing and that my best features are my brown eyes and great smile. I am very easy to talk to and people are relaxed around me usually from the start. I will admit I am somewhat of a hopeless romantic. Not too worried about the whole "man card" garbage, I am for sure a strong man with plenty of confidence and I know what I desire from a relationship too! Of course I am sure that is what every man would say to attract a lady, but you don't have to spend much time with me to see that it is true. Holding hands to me can be such a close experience and so much is communicated with just that touch. And a kiss to me is very important. There is a time and place for those "passionate" kisses, but you will know if we are on the same page if you know what I mean by a tender, soft and lasting kiss is the absolute best. Enough on that, if you don't get it, there is no explaining it for sure :)
I really enjoy anything that has to do with water or outdoors. We live in the most beautiful place in the country and even after years of exploring it I have found I am not even close to finding all its treasures yet! I am kind of a fishing junky. There is nothing like being on the boat in this beautiful state whether the fishies are cooperating or not! Just the water, view, quiet and sunshine are so awesome! I do try to stay very active. I am not a workout fanatic or have to do 14ers every weekend, but do try to stay healthy to enjoy all life has to offer. I love everything from hikes and walks, fishing, kayaking, boating and of course blue water beaches for anything on or under the water! I have always enjoyed travel, whether abroad or just a quick 2-3 day road trip. Sometimes just jumping in the car with a couple days of clothes and only a thought of a destination can turn out to be some of the best discoveries in life. Reservations and an agenda are great most of the time, but just seeing what may not be the "main" attraction in an area has turned out to be some of the coolest discoveries yet! Love a good movie at home cuddled up. Love going to live sporting events and concerts, the energy from the crowd is awesome. Life is about having fun and I love finding out what others enjoy and being exposed to their passions in life. It is great to see what someone else finds exciting and makes them feel like a kid when they do it!
My faith in God is important to me and I am not ashamed of it at all. I would like to be with someone who feels the same way. I am probably much more spiritual than religious. What this looks like exactly in a relationship is something to be figured out together. I am not even close to an "uptight" Christian or perfect. I don't judge anyone. I don't go to church every week and don't think that is the only place God is anyway. I enjoy a nice drink, dancing and unpolitically correct movies and jokes, He did intend for us to have fun while we are here didn't He? I usually prefer "modern" country music, but like all types of music from jazz to rock.
My son graduated last year and does not live with me any longer, so the house is all mine. I don't want to have anymore kids myself, but don't mind if my partner has kids, kind of actually miss it sometimes.

Recently I've gone back to doing something I haven't done in some time...hiking and camping.
It's been a complete joy; I had forgotten how much I loved to do that or how much I needed that back in my life. Between
5 to 10 mile solo hikes into RMNP backcountry, spend the night, then down the next day. Not super hardcore stuff but also
not the easiest, definitely worthy. I would like to plan some multi day extended stays later on, possibly a winter trip
as well.
I have a very active and creative mind...so much so that it can stiffle and frustrate me. I have spent a
lifetime chasing my muse. She is ellusive and fickle.
I don't watch TV...because I do not own one. But I do watch the hell out of some Nextflix

Meet single man from United States. Let's celebrate life! This is not a dress rehearsal. There must be passion and chemistry.
Living deliberately takes some effort. I'm passionate about skiing, sailing and cycling (top three) and other things as well. I always have my ski gear in my car and given any opportunity to play hooky from work, I'll head up and make some turns. If you see some guy changing out of a suit and into ski gear in the parking lot at A-Basin, it might be me. If you hear the same guy yodeling or singing ( I do both well) in the lift line or on top of the mountain, it is definitely me.
I'm self employed and love the freedom this gives me to ski, sail, or bike during the week but most importantly spend time with my greatest joy - my daughter. I work to live not live to work. However, I am passionate about what I do, enjoy helping others, and make more than enough to pay the light bill. I feel super privileged to be able to live the life I want.
Being in the mountains is a spiritual thing for me. I feel centered when at altitude. I enjoy margs on the beach too but given a choice, and taking into consideration my nerdy white skin, I'd rather be drinking the marg on a boat.
I'm a foodie. I love fine dining and especially enjoy discovering great ethnic dives. Pho, lingua, vindaloo - it's all good. I love to cook but regret that sometimes a costco roasted chicken and a quick veggie saute is all I have time/enegy for.
What am I looking for? The "about me" of a lot of daily matches reads like a Nobel application that collided with a harlequin romance novel. Rather than a laundry list of specifics, generally, you should be passionate about not only doing things but the person you are in a relationship with. Willingness to try new food, love of outdoors, and belief that life is better with a dog is a plus. You need to have and enjoy a good sense of humor (I'm funny...really). Beyond that, a little bit of mystery in the beginning makes this more interesting.
**Disclaimer** Who else but a lawyer would have one? My divorce has been filed, however, it is not yet final. I am way beyond separated as I've bought a separate house, furnished it and have (for quite some time) shared custody - 50/50. My divorce is amicable, soon to be X is a great mom and there are no custody/financial issues. Banks are crazy and lenders told me to wait to file for divorce as it would queer financing. Following that advice took way longer than I'd hoped.
