I grew up by, and love, the ocean. I love scuba diving and underwater photography. I love to run trails in the Oakland hills with my dogs. I love to ski in the winter. I am 59 years old and have been divorced for 4 years. I have a 27 year old son and a 24 year old daughter. I am an engineer and have worked for the same company since 1980, when I finished graduate school.
I just purchased a small house in Windsor, CA. I enjoy cooking and working in the yard. My idea of fun is going to the movies or visiting local restaurants and wineries. I also enjoy small, local theater performances.
I have traveled some but plan to do much more (hopefully with you). My favorite local destination is Mendocino, CA. I enjoy the New England architecture and intimate cafes and bookstores. In late 2006, I participated in a outreach to hurricane stricken Mississippi. In 2007, I took a business trip to Malaysia. My dream destination is Bora Bora in French Polynesia.

For book reading, I enjoy novels by Nicholas Sparks, Nicholas Evans, John Grisham, Ben Bova, Kim Stanley Robinson, Dan Brown, Tom Clancy, Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. For music, I enjoy classic love ballads, whether rock or country. I do not know how to dance, but I am hoping you will teach me.

Meet someone special from California, United States. Hello... Thanks for the visit! I am a former corporate pilot & flight instructor, turned Inventor/ Businessman (In the public safety field). Most people say "I have seen THAT ~ Somewhere...?". Currently living in the North S.F. Bay... "Wine Country" they say. I enjoy travel, and visit many different cities and new places while being able to mix business with pleasure ~ trying new meals at restaurants of all types, and sometimes playing golf here and there too when it comes together right. Sometimes play my guitar in the evenings for fun, (Old rock 'n roll mostly, with some blues mixed in) as a "perenial intermedate"!. I like going to live music events of all types, and pop in on "open-mic" nights for grins too, just to observe. I also enjoy a small sailboat occasionally on warm summer weekends in Clearlake, sometimes with my best little friend, (My ten year old dog ~ "Rocket")... Love that dog! I enjoy a good fire on rainy winter nights, maybe a good band on summer nights, cooking dinner or BBQ with "or for" someone special, conversation and a glass of wine (And maybe share fine special dark chocolate). Hard to describe here... as everyone is different in each of thier own ways, and it does take chemestry to "light the fire", and all the obvious "eye candy" we seem to need to "spark the fire".... However, for starters: Like to be first in my mind, treated with respect always... defended when needed... You are health concious, stay fit, enjoy long walks or days on the lake with some great food and drinks, and tunes (maybe some friends)... love animals, not afraid to try new things, and travel is easy for you... I would much rather be outside than inside- I work to live, not live to work. I enjoy doing lots of things outdoors, from paddling a kayak to sitting in the sun in my backyard watching the flowers. I would never turn down jumping into the water- the warmer the better. I love to play and be out in the sun, but I also like to clean up and have a night out. I take pride in my appearance.. Basically, I am just as comfortable in a pair of shorts as I am in a nice pair of slacks.
I would love to find a partner to share adventures with, exploring all that Northern California (and beyond) has to offer. I am a photographer (I took most of the photos in my profile.) But photography is often secondary to that road that leads to someplace I have never tasted before. North America is very diverse in topography and cultures. It would take many generations to see it all.
One hesitation that some people have is that on my profile it says "separated." I have been separated for almost three years and she has moved back to Up-state New York (being from New York and having an aggressive attitude was one of our major failings.)The only reason that we have not divorced is that she has had some medical problems. The most serious is she needs another hip replacement. She has no insurance and very little money but she can still use my medical insurance. She is hesitant as this is her second hip replacement and she remembers the pain. I encourage her to get it done as it hinders my search for a partner. She does say that if I do find someone she will immediately file for divorce.
I really am just over six feet tall and I have been since junior high school. I would never be mistaken for him but I have been told many times that I have an appearance similar to Sean Connery.
You have to like dogs among other animals. At the present I have a beagle/border collie mix, Digger, which is very spoiled (it is a longer story.) I also have a very musical cockatiel, Avis, and I just rescued a Teacup Chihuahua long hair named Sophie.
I am far from being rich financially but I am comfortable and stable. I like to laugh and I think that I have a good sense of humor. I like displays of affection.
