Me. I am a twenty-three year-old human male. Until I was twelve, I lived on the coast but moved then to the chaparral countryside due East of Santa Rosa. Having spent well over 23 of my life in the Boy Scouts, I have a deep affinity for the outdoors and love to hike, backpack, camp climb or even just walk.
Theodore Roosevelt is my personal hero and role model. I have many other such heroes, but his legacy has had numerous impacts on my own life.
I've also studied cuisine passionately, I love to reinvent classics and find ways to make even the most complicated things easy to cook on a Weber charcoal grill. I'm also obsessed with Toyota trucks. Not big, mindless "bro-trucks" but old First-Generation 4X4s; 40, and 60-series Land Cruisers, or older 4-Runners with fiberglass tops. The kind of trucks that have to get called in when Jeepers get themselves stuck or stranded. It's a Toyota thing, everybody understands. I even have my own little truck, known as The Mule. It's a simple, no-frills truck that somehow manages to keep on chugging, even after a hard 30-year lifespan.
Spirituality is something here that can get muddled up easily. I believe in Christ, but I'm not so sure I believe in Christianity. I think that the human factors surrounding the concept of "religion" have become corrupted by human nature, and so I strive to avoid those aspects of it these days. I used to be a major Bible-thumping jerk, and was so for my own nefarious purposes. I was misled, and I don't know if I'll ever forgive myself for it.
Today, there are two quotes that define my spiritual position at present.
Firstly is 1 Corinthians 4:11-13:
"To the present hour, we both hunger and thirst. Being reviled, we bless, being defamed, we entreat, being persecuted, we endure. We have become the scum of the Earth, the offscouring of all existence until now."
While Paul addressed this phrase specifically to Timothy and the church at Corinth, it sets a fantastic model for my emerging worldview: not to expect to belong to the world, and to only return every act with kindness and patience. It's a tough rule to follow sometimes, especially when I really just want to tell someone off, but it stands fast.
Secondly is a quote from "These Fail hands" by Brave Saint Saturn:
"Darkness can't perceive the light, though lightlessness has chilled us numb.
And though its wings may cloud the skies, the dark shall never overcome!"
This, to me, is a reminder of the power and necessity of remaining hopeful despite the evident odds.
So for me, my faith is a matter of hope, and a guiding means for me to interact with those around me. I don't preach, I don't judge, and I don't hate. My hope is my hope, and I won't try and force it off on anyone.

I love literature, Hemingway is one of my favorite authors, and I could spend hours talking about the symbolism in "The Sun Also Rises". I'm also a history nut, and I'm pretty sure I could discuss the development of the battleship from Ironclads to the Post-Dreadnought age with the best of them.
I don't really know whom I'm looking for, but all I can say is that my "ideal match", if there is such a thing, has a strong personality and a need to do the right thing. I would love to rack up a laundry list of little things I'd idealize in someone; but I know for a fact that all I really want in life are to remain strong, and to do what's right, and I seek someone who is so inclined as well.
