I grew up in a very loving, and warm family environment, so being caring and compassionate is natural for me. I do my best to help people in need, and do volunteer work on different projects for low income families.
I've gone thru some tough times in the past, but I'm very happy and blessed to be where I am today. I do my best to enjoy life to the fullest. I'm very active, go to the gym 5 days a week, and enjoy playing most sports. I recently started playing hockey, or should I say started hockey classes, and hope to suck less soon :) Healthy body usually means a healthy mind, and I try to maintain both.
I grew up in Urbana Illinois, and moved to CA after I got my degree, and have lived here ever since. Pace of life is definitely faster here, but I love CA and its many scenic locations. Love short weekend getaways.

Even though I don't work in the psychology field anymore, I've had many paid and volunteer counseling positions at various nonprofits over the years (grief counseling currently), and it has made me a very good listener and conversationalist. I'm always trying to improve myself and stretch my boundaries. Getting out of one's comfort zone is a good thing, but it can be humbling at first. Luckily, I have a tenacious drive! I've been overweight for most of my 30's and into my 40's, but I've been dropping the weight gradually over the last year through a sensible, healthy diet and an exercise program. If you're looking for Mr. Six-Pack Abs, I'm not your guy, but I'm going to get to the good, healthy weight that I used to be at. I'm okay with who I was, who I am now, and who I will be, but like I said before, there is always room for improvement!
OK, what am I looking for...I'm looking for a woman who likes having an equal and active part in dating and a relationship. We're in this "boat" together trying to find that special person. You need to be able to voice your opinions, desires, and help steer, too. I laugh every chance I get, and enjoy making people smile. I can be a goofball, but am passionate and old fashioned in many ways. A lady's got to have a sense of style, the ability to run in heels, a spark in her eye and a killer smile. Nothing's more attractive than a woman with a gorgeous smile.
I love to live an active life and explore.
