In my spare time, I have done more sailing than anything else . . . I have raced and cruised my whole adult life. A few years back I sailed from San Francisco down through Polynesia, Niue, and Tonga, to New Zealand, and back through Tonga, Western Samoa , and Hawaii to SFO. (18 months) After that I raced in a singlehanded race from San Francisco to Hawaii, and had the good fortune to win. These are the high points, but there was lots of sailing before and after.
I wrote/published a book on my sailing adventures, in 50 years a lot of crazy things happen. And yes, I am looking to buy a new sailboat. This time I don’t want to sail long distances, but I do want the thrill of going fast. And not surprising, after all the sailing I ended up with a Master’s license from the USCG.
I sing and play the banjo for fun, and I like to talk to bright and passionate people. I just took another writing class at UCSD and am looking for the next writing project.
I like getting dressed up and going out to a concert or theater (especially symphony), or dressing down and going sailing, to a Karaoke bar, or to a picnic. I walk/hike about every other day.
