I relate best to people who understand that fun is a state of mind, not an activity. I can have fun scuba diving (which I love but haven't done in a while) or sitting next to the right person, without saying a word. The right connection is what makes anything fun.
I have three kids, ages 15, 13, and 11, who I adore and who live with me most of the time. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than seeing a smile on my kids' faces. My kids keep me young.

Be a good person, do the right thing, help people who need help, and good things will come your way. And, yes, I practice what I preach. I actually once helped a little old lady cross the street. As a lawyer I spend a lot of time helping people who can't afford to pay me. Its sorta my way of giving back to the universe for what I have received. I believe in a higher power, just not sure what form that takes.

Not knowing how to start this essay, I thought I'd quote some lines from a favorite 80's song. It's not always easy but I think it important to get the balance right.
I’m quite responsible and have a respectable career that affords me a home and a stable life. (No, I don’t live in a barn.) The fourth line in the song, for those that know it, sounds harsh which is why I left out a few words. Being a single man, I tend to focus on myself during the routines of the day. A wise man once wrote, “Pets, especially dogs, require you to care for someone other than yourself.” My dogs have certainly been good at getting me to focus outward. It’s in my character to want the best for other people. (This being one reason I became an educator.)
I, however, have been missing a special person in my life that would make me a better me. Now, after years of friends and loved ones moving away, getting divorced, or following different paths, my social circle could use expanding. I spend far too much of my time working and too little being social. I am looking forward to making new friends and getting the balance right.
Let's go out to dinner and see a movie. Let's go to the beach. I'll teach you to surf or we can relax and take a stroll on the beach. Let's go to a concert and rock out. Let’s take a trip, visit a national park, or fly overseas. I have had the privilege to travel throughout Europe and have been as far as Istanbul.
And while making new friends is a priority for me, ultimately I'm looking to fall in love with a beautiful soul and spend the rest of my life with her. Start with a date that could lead to a friendship that could grow into a wonderful relationship!

Chivalry is not dead in my book. I believe a woman should be the queen of the "castle" and treated as such. I am not into fussing and fighting with my woman. I have fought all my life and I am too tired to fight any more. "Yes dear" works real good with me. It flows from my lips like sugar. "Yes, Sweetheart," works just fine for me. There is no fight left in me. Just lots of love and caring and sharing. If you want a guy to fight with.....it won't be me. Oh, very important.
