Meet men and women from Arroyo Grande, United States. My friends say I have too many hobbies, travel too much, and collect too much stuff (I've owned almost 100 cars), and that I should write a book about. It's not that exciting to me. And ironically, I don't feel satisfied with material possessions, activities and accomplishments. It seemed exiting before, but now I'd like to do a little less traveling, sailing and selling, and make some more rewarding memories. I enjoy meeting new people and hearing about their experiences and how they made it this far in life. I'm the guy that has at least something in common with everyone, and can get along with anyone. If you are ultra liberal, then I still have a more far left (a few) stance, and if you're ultra conservative, my views (most) are even more right. So no-one is safe, but everyone is welcomed too, since I am impressed if someone has thought about contemporary issues and formulated an opinion. With multiple businesses, and employees scattered abroad, my time is scarce, schedule is hectic, and work demands are high. But my family and friends always come first, and I never prioritize work above a personal invitation--$$ is not worth sacrificing meaningful fellowship. BTW, superbowl parties are not meaningful fellowship.
A meeting for lunch or a dinner is what I'm looking for, except my out of control beard sometimes gets sucked into my mouth while eating, so that's awkward and embarrassing. The worst is when you bite into a sandwich and trap your moustache between the bread and maxillary incisors. I'm biting into that ribeye sandwich to make a clean cut, and my upper lip feels like it's caught in a paper shredder. I don't expect you to like the beard, I can't even hardly stand it myself. My favorite televison shows are biographies. Also, sitcoms with strong character development like seinfeld, raymond, monk appeal to me. If we go to a movie and the producer relies on screenplay, setting, plot or other effect, then I feel ripped off.
This doesn't happen too often since now I pretty much boycott movies, and when I do go the bar is set so low that even Hunger Games only mildly raised my ire ("dad, there's three books..."). On the enneagram my personality type is an infp--pretty rare at 1 or 2% of the general population, and I'm attracted to tall, confident, outgoing types, but not oldest children or "my way or the highway" types because that's kind of the way I am but in a gentle way. If you are a middle or youngest child, (I'm not going to boss you around, but I do have an opinion on everything) and have experienced significant hardships in life, and have an eternal perspective, then we'll probably get along well. If you were raised on a farm and had to milk the cows and goats each morning in the dark, or grew up on the end of a dirt road and fixed your own car, then we'll have even more in common. But more importantly, you've learned to balance daily responsibilities with managing a household and maintaining lasting relationships and yet you still entertain lifelong dreams, and have not succumbed to the cynicism and ephemeral psuedo-rewards advertised and persued by society at large today. One of the dreams I haven't realized is fathering 10, 20 or 30 children like my parents. Now that we're older, I am getting okay with that unfulfilled dream. I'm confident taking my family, friends and my own life in my own hands, whether on the wheel, the yoke or the tiller, but refuse to skydive because that would be tempting our Creator, a violation of His direct command.
I'm older and wiser now, so I don't fly under bridges or do wheelies at 90mph, and I expect you to value your life as well and not buckle your kids or yourself in any seat of a smart car when my dented but comfy '89 suburban is more economical, greener and safer, plus it achieves a remarkable Je ne sais qua when pulling the period Overlander into yellowstone.
