My favorite authors are John Steinbeck, Ernest Hemingway and Kurt Vonnegut. My favorite all time books are To Kill a Mockingbird, Bridges of Madison County and For Whom the Bell Tolls.
I am an upbeat cynic. I am street wise but I believe the human spirit can overcome any heartbreak or disappointment.
I play tennis regularly and also play golf.. Like to dance but am not too good at it. (People only watch the girl anyhow).

Success to me means being happy,having friends and family to share life and experiences with. After reading a couple of profiles I probably should expand on myself a little more. I am somewhat of a private person with a great sense of humor. I enjoy travel, quiet evenings, concerts, both rock and classical. ( Ex. Billy Joel and Elton John.) I enjoy almost all activities games, cards, ballgames and camping ( I am somewhat past the trailor and moter home stage and more into motels)
Since I am new to the single life I am approaching it as a new chapter to learn. I think life is a sharing experience. You learn from and with other people.. I would like to meet someone that enjoys doing things. I have not danced in a long time but am not adverse to trying if I don't step on your toes too much. I don't like E-Mails much. Probably because I am a hack at typing. I prefer to talk directly to people. However my job dictates I use it.. I am still working not out of necessity but because I like to stay active. I am in good physical shape for the shape I am in.. However my work schedule tends to limit my extra-curricular activities to Sat, Sunday and Monday for now or after 6PM. in the evening. I leave at 4:30AM to 5:30PM.

I love the Mexican culture and the arts and cuisine of that country. I have a diverse heritage as some of my ancestors migrated to Mexico from Germany. Because of that I have a very strong fascination and interest in Germany. I have traveled extensively in Germany and have been trying to learn the german language now for around 5 years. I correspond with a German friend who lives in Weinheim and he writes to me in german and I too try to reciprocate.
After I retired ( 5 years ago), I purchase a travel trailer and traveled extensively through most of the US. It was fascinating and all together relaxing and a tremendously enriching experience. I took my trusty camera with me and took thousands of picture as I went. I am still sorting out shots I took on these trips.
I hope to find someone who also love traveling and still hope to continue my travels.
I live by the beach and enjoy waling on the sand and going out on the IB pier. I regularly eat at the "Tin Fish" for they have the best salmon omelette in the world!.
I live alone in my condo by the beach. Lonely sometimes, but I have so many interests and hobbies that loneliness comes very infrequently. I would very much like someone to cheer my home with her laugh and her essence. Someone to go on bike rides with or to symphonies or movies and of course to enjoy a good old fashioned night out to a movie and dinner. And also to join me at the end of the pier for a great breakfast.
