Date a man from California, United States. I am a very happy person, by nature, and strive to keep an attitude of gratitude every day. I am also confident, and very open about who I am, and not afraid to show that to others. I will laugh out loud during a funny play, or cry during a sad movie (I prefer to laugh, though!!!). I am very encouraging of others, and I keep bitterness, resentment, blame, and the like out of my life. I am emotionally calm - except for the laughing part, and I believe that any issues can be resolved with discussion and understanding. Many people find it very easy to share what's happening in their lives with me because they feel very safe doing so. Although I have a strong sense of morality, people find me to be nonjudgemental about their views, thoughts, actions. I love having projects to work on, either around the house, or in social groups, and like to think that I'm pretty handy. I enjoy cooking, especially if it's to share something with someone special. I like to travel, to hike, to experience life. I am not a fan of television generally, and almost never watch it, but will occasionally, if with someone else. I would much prefer to use that time to make meaningful connections with those around me. I love seeing people succeed at things they didn't know they could do, and believe that we are capable of much more than we really realize. I really enjoy doing things for others.

I also believe that it's not so important that I, and the person I'm with, have all of the same interests (in fact it would be boring if we did!). Easy going down to earth, usually quiet guy who is nice to waiters and waitresses. As I've explained to my kids, you get more with honey than vinegar, besides, I don't want my food with extra saliva. First of all, my intent here is to find that special person to spend the rest of my life with. I will expect us to connect with one another on a very deep level and, if that scares you, then you will probably want to look elsewhere. I am NOT interested in dating, unless it is for the purpose of learning more about one another and seeing where it leads from there. I am NOT a serial dater and have no desire to spend time with other serial daters. Though some enjoy that sort of thing, I am not one of them. I do, however, enjoy group activities (e.g., dancing) and would probably enjoy accompanying you to such an event.
I am not interested in sexual intimacy outside of a committed relationship, and don't believe in calling it "intimacy" unless you are able to connect on more levels than just sexually. I am a very passionate person and enjoy sex just as much as (probably more than) the next guy. I believe there are many other dimensions on which to connect intimately and that sex before its time can just muddy the waters, blinding us to more important realities.
I have spent time with those who still have children at home and, though I am an empty-nester, have thoroughly enjoyed that experience. I enjoy the company of those of every age, and children will always have a special place in my heart. They seem to readily recognize the love that I have for them and have little problem warming up to me. If children are still a focus and priority in your life (as they should be), I would embrace that and would not expect to replace a relationship they may have with their father.
Finally, I do not enjoy breaking other's hearts and, in my willingness and desire to love others, tend to get heartbroken rather easily. I am not a wimp, but I am not heartless either and will not want to get involved with you if your intentions are not sincere. We have all met people here, and on other dating sites, who have lost touch with what these sites are supposed to be about and have, instead, gotten hooked on all the attention that they can provide. If YOU are one of those people, please admit it to yourself, get help if you need to, and please don't continue playing with other people's hearts. These are real people you are dealing with, and we are not here for your entertainment. And please do not involve me, and others like me, in your games.
Okay, now that I've gotten all that off my chest. LOL! Some of the things others have said about me include being intelligent and witty, humorous (I will make you laugh), honest, engaging, fun, passionate, energetic, loving, compassionate, open, giving, ambitious, and a "great catch." But I am not a pushover or by any means desperate. I am very content in life, though I do firmly believe that life is MUCH better when it is shared by two people who are experiencing a deep, committed, reciprocating love. I rent a house, 25 years of ownership finally came to an end after I got divorced 6 years ago. Housing crashed, and to be honest, I'd already done the save the house thing before after my first divorce. So I gave my ex the money, the bank the house. Never thought I'd do that. I don't miss it, but not against buying another one. I like working on a project, home improvements. . I have Lived in HB my whole life... I never thought I'd say this but I would move now.
My kids think I'm crazy but I've had this crazy thought of buying a motorhome and traveling in it for a couple of years with my lab, working and playing. Flying home to see the kids. Meet someone special from United States. Hello. OK, I will attempt to write this about myself...
My photos are recent except for a couple that I threw in there from some travels a couple of years ago. I have been fortunate in this life, and I'm grateful to be financially comfortable, especially in recent years where we see so many people having such a tough time. I'm in a really good and peaceful place in my life right now. So it would be nice to find someone to share it with. I'm semi-retired but working hard anyway. I'm almost always found working on some home improvement project or another. I enjoy renovating properties and making a beautiful place out of a "fixer upper". To me, renovating a property is an art form. I am an art school grad and my main area was sculpture. I think of the renovation of a home or other property as a very large sculpture.
My sense of humor is probably one of the first things that people notice and appreciate about me. I like to make people laugh including myself. I enjoy snow skiing and water skiing and my more recent interest has become scuba diving (but don't let this make you feel like you have to do a bunch of extreme sports to keep up with me, I don't do that stuff very often and I would only scuba if I were on a vacation, and somewhere tropical). I also enjoy hiking, and other normal things : ) I do not know why that seemed like a good place for a smiley face.
