Are you attractive, sporty, and emotionally stable? Was told recently I look better, younger in person than my pics. Was flattered, I think that's an endorsement! That's not me 30lbs and 10 years ago, before grey hair. That's still me. Finding an intelligent, tat free (mostly?), smoke free, moderately thin or athletic woman with a modicum of faith, within an hour and say...10 years of me is proving a challenge! Don't need Miss America or a nun (smiling) but everything in moderation, right?
I have a daughter away at college, and 3 boys 15, 13, 12. I have the boys every other weekend. Just got back from 2 weeks in Alaska, great adventure. Where do we go next?
If we were perfect, we would not be single or divorced at 35-50, eh? At this point in life, we are going to have a few gaps or obstacles between us. I am easy going enough to accept differences and driven and committed enough to not walk away from them. So If we don't have everything in common, fine. No drugs (and I don't tolerate such recreation by others) and only traffic violations (no tickets for 14 years) in my past. Income higher in the 90's but all the extra work burned me out.
You: I'm not certain I really have a single type; I'll know you when I see you. In my past, I have found it easier to date those younger than myself. I'm not certain why things worked out as such, but it's a trend that I'm not likely to break - but every rule has an exception. Non-smoker a must (it bothers me) unless I contacted you. My stated age range is a guideline.
Commitment: There's a tricky word! I do not fear [eventual] marriage. Never married but "been down the aisle" once - to "get rid of" my mother at her 2nd (that's a joke; I like my mother). However all too often, I got involved with a few women (not met online) who probably should have BEEN committed [at taxpayer expense] (that includes the person I met during 2006, unfortunately).

Date people from California, United States. Recently separated after almost 20 years. Still on somewhat good terms with (soon to be) ex and work closely with her in other aspects of our lives (i.e.: businesses, parenting, etc.), but the romantic side is definitively over by mutual agreement.
I have been working extremely hard on the creation and building of several companies (2 for profit and 1 nonprofit) to improve my income so that I can be a better provider for my family, and my body has suffered the inevitable consequences of that, making my reasonably muscular body fatter than it should be... But the weight will drop off soon enough.
Right now I'm looking for a friend first, we'll see what develops after that. I have a definite romantic streak, but I need encouragement from the right woman to bring it out. I come off a bit strong and may even sometimes appear as arrogant, but I really do appreciate those that surround me, their contributions to my life, and never expect them to be a 'yes person' as I truly do strive to see things from the other person's point of view. Truthfully, though, I have my own insecurities like everybody else and am by no means perfect. That being said, I am fiercely loyal to those who are loyal to me and will try to move heaven and earth to help them.

So, with that being said, when I’m not at the office (I’m a CPA), things I like to do are grabbing a drink before dinner and then either settle in to watch a new action movie on netflix, or if it is still light out side then head outdoors until it's too dark to stay out. I also like to use the xbox as it has a couple of games I like like such as Grand Theft Auto. When time permits, fun activities like going to a friends house for a BBQ is always entertaining and allows for catching up. Also fun is family outdoor activities like wilderness camping in Mojave Desert, or Malibu's park area. I also can bowl over 100, relearning tennis, and play on or our office softball team.
Of course, weekend or overnight trips to Palm Springs for the Sunday Buffet, pools, and gambling are good activites too and allow everyone to have fun and get some stress relief. Since I am ex military and like guns, Target shooting, including Trap and Skeet are always a blast and I like to get the crew together about twice a year or so for this.
As much as I enjoy my adult time activites, or working, I do spend a lot of quality time in being a Father to my kids. When my four kids get to visit (they are with me part time), besides homework, chores,and nurturing them, they enjoy activities such as Swimming in Laguan Beach with their Aunt, cub scouts, riding bikes, going to the park at Lake Balboa or pool at Hansen Dam, or just playing in the yard as they love to run around. I like to try and keep everyone busy with an activity rather than watching tv all day, but the kids do have a thing for Pokemon shows and the WII lately.

I try to lead an active, healthy life. That means running (including a marathon a few years back), and working out when I can. I love being outdoors: hiking, camping, backpacking, sailing, skiing. I'm probably the most relaxed and at peace walking along a thickly wooded path or climbing a ridge to take in a stunning view.
I go for all things cultural: theater, movies (foreign or independent mostly), music of all kinds (blues, jazz, classical, latin,...), dancing, new exhibits at SFMOMA. I love watching talented people strut their stuff! I'm always learning new things. I'm an avid reader, and will go to a lecture or take a class at the drop of a hat.

Alrighty then.. Hi! have to say that I dance to the beat of a different drummer and have a knack for doing things differently.(not your average bear) I've got some serious laugh lines and smile a lot, perhaps too much but I can't help it. No fancy photos... just me... full of life, boytish charm and a lust for adventure but also a grounded, laid back man with an offbeat sense of humor. I just haven't had the best of luck...
I'm a bit of a country boy at heart and come from a Midwest tradition that I hold close. There's a certain mindset there that's very simple and about doing right by your neighbor regardless of circumstance. That mentality has been a great gift. I have a large extended family and love them all very much. The cousins still manage to keep in touch. (blessing) There are blessings here and there every day if you're watching close enough. Outdoor stuff. Yes please! I’ve got a lovable hound who needs to be out a lot so you can often find us together wandering around. (if my dog were any sweeter he would explode) Love mountain biking, packing, camping and doing stuff outside. Car camping is really fun too! I love to swim, fish and SCUBA dive. I seem to be drawn to all things aquatic. I keep in shape and love a good workout, however I can get it. I'm a hands guy, illustrator, painter, carpenter with a good set of tools and can fix/build/ make lots of stuff. Baseball's my game and I'm one of those who can see the magic. Twins fan all the way (ugh, really tough year) and Giants are my favorite NL. Yes, it's ok to have a fave in each league.
A firm believer that music fuels the soul and dancing frees it. I seek out live music when I can and can appreciate most every kind. I love a good adventure too. some of the best times i've had have been doing things I haven’t wanted to. Gotta keep that in mind. favorite color is crimson and I love the word redemption. I cook but my chops have gotten a little rusty. I like scary movies but nothing beats old Lawrence Welk shows for truly frightening. In my younger days I hitchhiked across the country a few times (which scared my family.) I regret scaring my family but not the experience and have some good stories.
It's fun to ruffle feathers and be a smart ass just to wake folks up a bit but always do it with a smile or a wink. everybody knows a dirty joke but my favorites are the clean ones(the ones that make Grandma snort) I guess that implies I'm a little nerdy. Ha! So be it! I'm convinced there's a scientific classification. Nerd the genus, dork the species.
You? Tall is wonderful but not at all requirement. I guess just have enough smarts to know that a good conversation involves knowing how to listen and not letting your own agenda taint the engagement... too much. (difficult) Just someone who gets it. I know that sounds a little vague but i guess just someone that keeps the simple things and basic values in mind. Lowell George had a song "20 Million Things" that sums it up, Grateful Dead's "Standing On The Moon" as well. I guess I fantasize too about the smell of you in my cashmere after you stole it for a few days. : )... (yeah, right buddy. ha!) It would be wonderful just to do stuff together and smile. Sounds kinda Mayberry, I know. (i like to hold hands too, shh...) total plus if you seek out moonlight and the stars.
